However Ruud's been told there's a level of funds available that surely isn't just a £3m permanent transfer and a loan, especially when Tom Collomosse who I respect has said we're targeting up to 5 new players. A loan is likely to cost us £1-2m in fees anyway which is no different than a £5-10m transfer over 4-5 years. I'd be targeting those whose contracts are up in the summer and value leagues like Scandinavia and Japan.

It's more making signings as if we were a Championship club like we did with Hermansen and Fatawu who were arguably better and far better value than the likes of Skipp, Ayew and Okoli etc.

There's every chance we are under a transfer embargo if we go down until we prove our way of meeting the requirements for 2025/26 and for 2024/25 that will have already happened. I think we ought to make value for money signings as if we're in thr Championship.

I think you're probably right but we also don't seem to negotiate that well anyway, often pay handsomely (eventually)

But this happens fairly regularly, even with Fatawu who we'd already had for a season on loan. We then had delays in registering him permanently. Maybe I'm being harsh and I certainly don't scrutinise every other club for robust comparison but there's multiple instances of us faffing about.
