  1. On the flip side though we've had many one off results with honking players so it takes a bit more than that to get consistency out of players with fundamental weaknesses. This signing on the face of it just seems a but odd. I don't know much about him so I will absolutely reserve judgement in his ability here. But when we already have 5 CBs, one of which is our future in Ben Nelson. Any addition I'd expect to be a logical addition. They'd be left footed, comfortable on the ball and they'd be very quick. He's neither of those things, he appears adept to playing LCB but right footed (not ideal but ok) and his passing stats look very mediocre (can be swayed by the team and system - he was at a relegated team). Pace wise he seems nothing more than above average. Got to trust the process on this one it seems. Surely one of Faes, Coady or Souttar are off then.
  2. How on earth have Forest got £27m off Lyon for Niakhate? I simply won't have it that we can't do more to sell outlr players. Astonishing.
  3. There seemed to be an article released on The Athletic that he'd signed but when I clicked on it it wasn't there anymore.
  4. Yeah I think so but I'm not blown away by his attacking prowess, he's more of a functional full back.
  5. If we are going to 3 at the back we need at least another 2 wing backs, I don't trust Ricardo and Justin to be able to play that role week in, week out in the Prem.
  6. Baffling signing on the face of it. We already have 5 CBs and we're adding a 6th and none of them are left footed. I was at least hoping he was extremely quick and progressive on the ball but he doesn't appear to be that either. Will have to trust the process on this one.
  7. His loan won't go up to 31st August 2024. The terms of the permanent deal will be active from 1st July 2024. This is just what we do, I swear it's deliberate.
  8. It's a conundrum, midfield is the biggest priority which might mean we wait to see. We currently have 5 CBs, although none of them are left footed. Nelson and Vestergaard are comfortable off both feet and Faes is equally as erratic either side. It'd easy to presume under Cooper he's going to be happier with CBs like Coady and Souttar but who knows. Whatever the foot of elusive defender, we need pace. Nathan Zeze was heavily linked last season and ticks all the boxes except is he ready for the PL yet? Fofana was at the same age but we already have Nelson trying to push for the 1st team. If Maresca was still here I thought we might be in with a shot of Facundo Gonzalez from Juventus. Did very well on loan at Sampdoria last season. Looks ideal.
  9. They're a team to be scouring to be honest pal, several weeks ago I was looking at J League attacking midfielders and Matsuki and Araki look destined for Europe.
  10. Reminds me of Billing at Bournemouth
  11. @Mark I've told you this many times before, you should be incredibly proud and I mean it. Very few football clubs have a forum as good as this. Here's to another 20 years, well done mate.
  12. We'll have just under £7m left of his £17m on the books. So £10m would hopefully be enough to clear that and pay him off.
  13. The fact we missed out on Dario Osario who's gone on to do very well, I really wish we'd have a look at Alexander Aravena.
  14. Doubt it, that would require us to sell players and we don't.
  15. The options were limited.
  16. They paid £40m for him, he'll have £25m or so left on his book value.
  17. To be fair he scored 22 last season for Espanyol, one of those players who's been about for years and is just steady/mediocre.
  18. I agree, both will have had to go and as I'll repeat again even if we'd stayed up and sold both we still were set to breach PSR.
  19. I don't see your point. We sold both in that period and are told we've still significantly breached. At £3m a PL place, we'd have needed to win the PL rather than come 18th to make up the money for the profit we made on either.
  20. The amortised transfer fees for Kristiansen, Souttar and loan fee for Tete would have been around £7m for 22/23. Let's not forget we spent that whole summer saying we couldn't sign anyone unless we sold players but that we weren't under pressure to sell a major asset. We hadn't forecast to sell Fofana and yet we did, plus we booked Maddison in the same financial period and yet we've still breached PSR we are told by some margin. It hasn't been confirmed one way or another whether we had to pay off Rodgers remainder of his contract or if it was a lower amount. Either way, we were heading for real trouble regardless.
  21. We will reinvest what we can but as I said, this sale is not from a position of strength like we'd all hope it would be. In 2-3 years time I want to see this club has executed a strategy to be ran better financially rather than just going from one poor decision to another.
  22. Yeah, we're looking at a miracle.
  23. I'd rather we used Ben Nelson.
  24. All the best at Chelsea Kiernan. I think this is a good deal all around. He's soon to turn 26 and whilst our financial position is precarious, in an ideal world it's at this age that it's unlikely an offer above £30m would come for KDH so an efficient club would cash in and reinvest. We aren't an efficient club right now and it's more needs must but either way he goes with my blessing. He said he'd get us promoted last season and he contributed massively to that, to right the wrongs of 2022/23. We're at par. He's a success story for any academy player, his story and journey was one of belief and patience and taking your chances. He did that, I think he's got a limit and that's why I don't think this is a disaster for us but I never truly celebrate the sale of academy players, bar maybe Chilwell 😂 Thanks for the memories KDH.
  25. You'd hope it would contain a 20-25% sell on clause and a nominal fee.
