  1. Yes, it happens if the two clubs can't agree a fee. We agreed a fee with Man City last summer for Tyrese Noubissie who was only 14 but had we not then it would have been set at tribunal. Likewise Chelsea had to pay £8m for a couple of Brighton youngsters a year or so ago. Nyoni already making his debut for Liverpool's first team is likely going to put us in a very strong position when the tribunal occurs.
  2. Hahahaaa I think we can at least be looking at north of £5-6m for him.
  3. It is very unusual for us to spend significant money on a " academy " player. We've bought the odd one over the years and possibly spent upwards of a million on the likes of Amani Richards but £4-5m is a lot for us. There'll be a reason for it.
  4. Academy investment, training ground costs, women's team etc
  5. Usually cause for us to try and sign them.
  6. I was trumping him up for a good while. Stagnated a bit this last 12-18 months thoughm
  7. Disagree, he wasn't very good. He was the season before though but enough to question £20m.
  8. Both poor bits of business IMO
  9. Although he has been deployed out wide and in attack, the way he presses and progresses the ball up pitch, there's certain similarities to his game as there is Dewsbury-Hall. Be interesting to see what we do with him, pretty sure he's still got at least 1 year left on his contract, possibly more.
  10. I think they'll have learnt a lot last season in a) the demand for tickets didn't diminish due to the catastrophic failings and relegation and b) despite numerous decisions that didn't consider the fanbase and again demand doesn't change. They'll got a captive audience, they can invest in the infrastructure and do what they want and we'll lap it up.
  11. Great shout, I suggested him a while back.
  12. It's interesting that we seem to demand above the going rate for fringe players but take very reasonable fees for our best players. I'm sure there'll be folk along to defend the club again shortly but maybe there's something we could learn on how we move fringe players on in future? I don't think we had much choice but to sell KDH at the reported fee, we weren't in a strong negotiating position. Newcastle were seemingly frantic to sell this last week and have managed to do so for 2 players at very good fees. Minteh for the season he's just had in Holland though isn't that extortionate for his potential but you sensed the desperation with Newcastle and they still did well.
  13. There's probably £20-30m PSR deductibles from that £89.7m.
  14. As I ponder over a 3 hour journey to London this morning I'm trying to sum up my feelings on KDH. He certainly won't go without my blessing like some may have in the past. Regardless of his ability at the very highest level, which is open to question, he righted the wrongs last season as he said he would and I respect that. I've long felt Dewsbury-Hall's contributions at Leicester are a bonus because he's a player who forced his way in to our team after a unremarkable youth career. I don't think many predicted this, but he's a testament to believing in yourself in your late teens and when getting your chance that you take it. His two loan spells were excellent and then he came back here and did the same. There was already something wrong with us in 2021/22 as Tielemans had his every other season slump and KDH was the fresh impetus we needed, he showed real verve and desire. However, there has to this moment been a limit to his game. He's approaching 26 and I'm not convinced he has the technical ability to be the very best but I hope I'm proven wrong even though he'd be doing it somewhere else than here. He's a credit to hard work, his progressing the ball up pitch is a sight to behold when he gets it right and he provided many memorable moments last season. I think £30m isn't a bad deal for us, we aren't in a strong negotiating position given PSR so it is what it is. I just hope it isn't all in vain, we need to learn from our lessons. Both in financial management and in trusting the players we bring through from our academy. Another success ticked off. Thank you Kiernan.
  15. Still think we should go 3-4-3 / 3-4-1-2 and more direct to Toney or Watkins. This manager has bored this group of players in to being ineffective on the ball, we need to create chaos another way. Pickford Walker Stones Gomez/Konsa Alexander-Arnold Mainoo Rice Saka Bellingham Kane Watkins/Toney Harsh to still not start Palmer and if he doesn't move to a back three then Palmer has to start at RW but I think we're still too passive in the current system.
  16. Yeah you're probably right, we are horribly light though as I presume we'll try and move Soumare on and Ndidi might well not be here either.
  17. He is a year younger, I thought they may have been in some of the same England squads but don't think they have.
  18. Possibly has a few pals already here, he's played with Silko Thomas before and possibly been in England youth squads with the likes of Alves and Briggs.
  19. Of course but we need at least 4 new central midfielders, at least 1 other winger (also dropping £14m on Fatawu), a striker and a defender. I think £60-70m is the max we'll spend but hopefully we get a couple of loans or frees in to help.
  20. England's inability to play out from the back and break the lines in the final third is harrowing. He needs to make us go more direct for the rest of this tournament. Especially as he loathes to make many changes to this current XI. That performance was once again utterly revolting. Mainoo played well and Palmer was largely quite positive but it's taken goal of the tournament to save us and then Toney's presence to cause chaos. Absolutely pathetic from Southgate this last 2-3 weeks, so stubborn I just don't get it. Our luck will run out without a huge mentality shift and to make some brave decisions. I wouldn't mind if the safe approach worked but it doesn't, we are toothless in attack in the way he's setting us up with this XI and extremely vulnerable at the back from the most basic of attacking patterns. I'd sack him tonight, thank god we're in to his final 2 weeks as England manager.
  21. £5-10m should be the price range of nearly all our signings this summer. Welcome aboard.
  22. Yeah like we've got £25-30m to drop on a defensive midfielder.
  23. Iversen came through the academy. What's absolutely wild is Iversen's wages had reduced last summer as we'd been relegated and that was absolutely the time to sell. Allegedly offered £4m by Palace and the opportunity of saving the remaining 2 years wages on his contract and yet we rejected it despite him being 4th choice. Nothing to see here
