  1. Three really, if you count the one that was offside.
  2. I will. They have these everywhere in London and it means that on a 1200cc motorcycle I am frequently overtaken and undertaken by these ridiculous e-scooters which should not legally be on public roads and which are almost completely ignored by law enforcement. Other than that, I'm all for 20mph limits in urban areas where warranted.
  3. Please tell me it doesn't sound like this...
  4. Perhaps they were busy physically restraining the twat responsible for the shite goal music last season?
  5. I leave a minute early to avoid that very shit, shit music that chimes in at the final whistle and humiliated us last season on the few occasions that we actually found the back of the ****ing net. The person responsible should be publicly pilloried outside the ground on match day and made to complete some season long Sisyphean punishment and futile soul destroying task such as cleaning the toilets by L1 and moderating matchday threads for 20 hours a day with that stupid refrain on repeat. It should be piped into his head during his every waking hour. Complete embarrassment.
  6. I can empathise completely with this. I have never felt a bond with either of my adoptive parents. My Father was an academic, aloof and emotionally cold and had very little time for us. He was unquestionably an undiagnosed autistic. My Mother is a bitter and twisted person and a bundle of neurosis. They are both 90 and during Covid my Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. The cruel thing about Alzheimer's is not simply that it robs your memories, but your very identity, the person you were. Strangely, it has transformed him a very gentle, warm and appreciative person. All the cold harshness and regimentation is gone. Ironic that the very thing that defined him and his career, his brain, is now deserting him, which is very hard to witness. My biological Mother is Welsh and her husband has vascular dementia which is equally as cruel. My real Dad is an Irish rogue - as much as he irks me, I really should track him down again. Life is so short. I fully understand your sense of their imminent mortality and as you say, the demise is hard to process. Upshot is, I'm not a family oriented person. I am very close to and adore my daughter and son-in-law, whilst aside from them, from day to day the only real love I feel is for my partner...and our dog. That sounds quite tragic, but I really try to avoid emotional investment. It's harrowing enough supporting City. I wish you well over the Christmas period and for the New Year my friend.
  7. Tmesis there. (Sounds like a dubious South American signing on the wing).
  8. As I recollect, he hit it first time on the volley where perhaps he should have taken an extra touch to bring it down/control it.
  9. That dubious honour goes to Jeff Schlupp vs Everton 16th August 2016. This was then recreated by Wilf on practically a weekly basis between January 2017 and May 2023. As a kid, if someone did this during a kick around or for the school team we'd call it a 'Kirby and West' because if anyone skied a shot at Filbert Street you'd hear it thud against the advertising hoarding on the double decker from inside the Kop. At the other end - 'the North Stand' it would end up in the street.

  11. I don't remember it from the ground, but then I wasn't going back. It was exactly as you say from the station to the Den, but when we were let out at the end it felt like lambs to the slaughter - but then I wasn't going back on the train.
  12. When I was a kid each Christmas I would get a Beatles album. I always knew what it would be, because I had requested it. As I recall, the most excited I got was for Revolver when I was eleven. I was allowed to play it that morning before visitors arrived and it spirited me away somewhere so special, I'm not sure I ever returned.
  13. Yes, probably Spurs, Newcastle, Chelsea or Villa.
  14. Trust me, I've done far worse that ponce about on a ridiculous e-scooter delivering burgers. pizzas and fries for pennies dressed like a member of the SAS.
  15. I have no idea why, but I always put this on when I'm wrapping presents and it distracts me so much that it takes four times as long as it should to do it. Some truly diabolical lyrics to match Rod's appalling attire and the atrocious miming. Things don't get off to a great start when bassist Phil Chen misses his intro... In addition to Chen, you've got the likes of Savigar, Appice and Cregan - I can't comprehend how such accomplished musicians can fail to pretend to be playing to their own music. Laughably entertaining and a dreadful song to boot.
  16. That was a fearsome and loathsome place. I recall taking a special to Villa in 85 I think, filled with the Baby Squad, and rumours circulated that the Zulus were lying in wait at New Street to ambush us when we changed trains. They weren't. but approaching the ground the C-Crew just seemed to emerge from nowhere and everywhere which spelt carnage. The worst away special was to Millwall at the Old Den in the FA Cup in January of the same year I think. The police kettled the City fans in the ground until it had emptied. They then opened the gates and left us at the mercy of the bushwackers. I managed to escape down an alley and on a freezing night spent about half an hour hiding under a Sherpa van parked in a street in New Cross. I was staying at a flat in Woolwich and getting there I felt like a fugitive fleeing a war zone. Some grim memories of travelling to and escaping from Upton Park too.
  17. They do it in the summer. Take a look next year. And I would think it just adds to the sheer stupidity of using these services.
  18. Why do so many of these fools on e-scooters (the scourge of our urban areas) delivering food for uber eats/just eat/deliveroo etc insist on wearing ski masks and balaclavas? True, it's daylight robbery in every sense, but if you really must feel the need to order a KFC family bucket, do you really want it delivered to your door by someone resembling a member of the provisional IRA?
  19. Are you suggesting that was intentional satire? If so
  20. "Couldn't care less" - 'could care less' is another shit Americanism.
