That's quite a niche/specific question and I doubt you'll get the answers you want on this forum. If I were you, I'd join the VWGolf TDI group on Facebook and ask the exact same question. I guess there'll be about 5-10k owners in the group who will tell you everything you need to know about the price you should expect to pay, the pro/cons of the engine and reliability/issues etc.

Must admit I'm much more tolerant of this type of driving as I'm getting older. Stats show that on average you only save a few minutes on your journey by driving at/over the speed limit so there's really no point speeding. And don't forget that in this instance 60 is the limit - not a target. It's winter, cold, wet etc. so all that needs to be taken into consideration. For me, tailgaters are much more of a problem. If I'm tootling along at 35 and they're up my arse I just wave them past if it's safe to overtake (and hope they end up in a ditch)

You're not the only one who's confused by it all, the whole thing is a shit show. The surprise 'merger' announcement back in the summer said they'd have the framework agreed by year end but my guess is they can't find a compromise so the whole thing is stalling. In the mean time, I reckon LIV are threatening to keep poaching the PGA Tours best players (e.g. Rahm) unless the Tour accept LIV's merger proposal.
