  1. Let's be honest - Gray dived. I want to see games decided by skill and effort, not by who is the best at falling over under minimal or no contact and fooling the referee. The only way we are going to spot diving consistently is through video technology. And the only way we are going to stop it is through a ban that's long enough to discourage players from doing it.
  2. One of the best penalties I've ever seen from Fuchs. A beautiful, clean strike in the top corner. A shame he's not good enough to be in the first team at the moment, or I'd vote him as our regular penalty taker.
  3. Vardy hasn't scored in the last half hour of a league match to affect its result since the title winning season. In 2015-16 Vardy scored a load of late goals that made a difference to the result of league matches, particularly during his 11 in a row. But since that season he's only scored four in the last half hour of a league match, and none of them have made a difference to the result. In 2016-17 he scored late goals in matches we were already winning and went on to win (against Manchester City and Sunderland), and this season he's scored consolation goals in matches we were already losing by a couple and went on to lose (against Chelsea and Liverpool). Vardy brings a huge amount to the team apart from goals, with his pressing, tackling and assists, and by tying up defenders. But it would be good to see him scoring more of those late equalisers and winners again ... or maybe the manager bringing him off a bit earlier sometimes to give someone else a chance.
  4. Huth has a lot of experience, and when he plays I always feel he is the one marshalling the defence, rather than Morgan. I'm not sure now much of a role he still has in the first team, other than as cover. But if he could help Maguire with his positioning when defending crosses and when a forward is one-on-one against him, that would be fantastic.
  5. Cardiff_Fox I completely agree the fixture schedule is over the top this Christmas, that players will be knackered at the end of it, and there are likely to be some odd results. I just don't think it's much of an excuse just yet. Let's look at the stats. By this date last December, we'd played 23 competitive matches (17 Premier League and 6 Champions League), including five matches in December. So far this year, we've only played 18 competitive matches (all Premier League), including four in December. I've not included reserve team fixtures like the Carabao Cup, but even if I had, we played more last year. And last year, eight of our ten Champions League fixtures were either three days before or three days after another competitive match, and we had a great run. Playing Wednesday evening and then Saturday lunchtime this week wasn't great, but we need to be mentally and physically strong enough and well enough organised to cope with that, but on Saturday we just weren't. I appreciate opinions differ though.
  6. I'd accept the tiredness argument mentioned earlier if we had faded in the second half. But we were complacent and disorganised from the start. In the first picture below, when Palace scored their first goal, Maguire (our tallest defender) is on our left side marking no one. It might look as if he's marking Zaha, but he isn't. He has no idea where Zaha is when the ball comes over. Simpson (our shortest defender) is in the middle of the pitch standing the wrong side of Benteke (their tallest forward). No one is on our right side picking up Loftus-Cheek if Schmeichel parries. None of our defenders jump for the ball and Benteke has a free header to score. In the second picture below, taken shortly afterwards, Leicester break but Palace have a clear back line and midfielders close by. They look much better organised all match. In the third picture below, a few minutes later, Zaha makes a run and takes out three defenders on the left. None of them is Chilwell, who is ball watching out of shot. Simpson is again marking Benteke in the middle, and again Loftus-Cheek is in lots of space. In the fourth picture below, in the run up to the second goal, Mahrez has lost the ball. He's not in the picture because he hasn't bothered tracking back. Maguire (nearest the goal) should have it covered. But he doesn't, because he's only looking at the ball. Zaha is about to move to his right, but Maguire hasn't noticed, even though he's right in front of him. Chilwell on the left of the goal is running back, but not flat out. In the fifth picture below, Benteke plays an easy pass to Zaha. Maguire is on his heels and realises the danger too late. Zaha runs past him. Chilwell picks up speed but it's too late. Zaha steps past him and scores. These are just the defensive problems - there are others. We shouldn't overreact to one bad match after a good run, but we also shouldn't blame tiredness, the referee, the lunchtime kick-off or anything else. We were well beaten because we have some things to sort out. I trust Puel and the players to do that.
  7. Ndidi has still made more tackles than anyone else in the Premier League this season (74). The next highest is 63. Maguire has got four assists already this season. Only a dozen players in the Premier League have got more, and only one of them is a defender (Azpilicueta with 5) But no team has conceded more goals from set pieces than us (10, of which 8 have been away)
  8. I'd play a strong team, but maybe not a full strength one. We have a tough fixture list over Christmas - four games in less than nine days.
  9. Great atmosphere last night. Singing all match, banter with the fat pie man who got chucked out and all the Saints fans who left early, and loads of goals. One for the fans who sat through the poor away performances last season, including at Southampton. It feels like Puel is starting something special, and the players are responding and improving. We've still got that threat on the counter attack, but look so much more comfortable on the ball now. And we have more of a squad, with real competition for places, rather than a decent first eleven and not much else. Exciting times ahead.
  10. Some referees would have played by the book; Tottenham would have been down to seven or eight players and probably lost and they would’ve been looking for an excuse. But I didn’t give them an excuse, because my gameplan was: let them lose the title. I think Clattenberg meant to say: my gameplan was to bottle the difficult decisions and hope the match result meant they didn't matter. He's normally one of the better referees. But why boast about not doing your job properly? Referees should just call it as they see it.
  11. Selling a pair of good seats in SK1 v Crystal Palace on 16 Dec and Man Utd on 23 Dec. One adult and one U18, but can upgrade the latter. Selling the tickets all together at face value. Thanks
  12. Selling one adult and one U18 ticket for West Brom and Spurs at home at face value. Good seats together in SK1. Can upgrade the U18 ticket if needed. SOLD
  13. @joemadden Great buyer - friendly and paid quickly.
  14. Spot on. He's definitely falling over less, and his work rate is an example to others.
  15. I've got a lot of time for Albrighton. He's got no ego. He works hard. He helps out his full back. And on his day his crosses are almost impossible to defend. It was great to see him get our first ever Champions League goal. And I still love the fact we got him for free, and from Villa. But his performance has dipped since last season. His crosses aren't as accurate, which means his assists have dried up. And he misplaces more passes than he used to. Demarai Gray looks full of confidence. He has a cracking shot. His judgement is good for a young player. And when he's running at defenders, he gets me on the edge of my seat, like Mahrez did so often last season. He's an exciting talent. I would play Albrighton against Chelsea, because I think our defence needs the help against good teams, particularly away from home. And I would start him against Copenhagen for the same reason. But I would start Gray against Palace, partly to rest Albrighton, but mainly because Gray deserves it.
  16. Fantastic atmosphere last night. As good as last season's for me.
