Someone in the office the other day said "Trump gets things done", and I read or heard something today that suggested New York cab drivers like him also "because he gets things done", and I was reminded of a particularly depressing Christmas do I was at in 2019 where some bore was telling me that the newly elected Boris Johnson was going to be brilliant because he "gets things done" and it feels like maybe there's a bit of a pattern here

My wife (in a relatively senior local clinical role for the NHS) when asked is this a big deal? : Yes and no Glad that's all sorted then

If kids were made to sing HMHB songs every week in assembly I reckon there would be tangible societal benefits within less than a decade

Just sing the first verse of this at them in future

It's quite an impressive effort to spend so much money on so much meh stuff. Andor is fantastic telly in its own right but I don't think any other series they've made is better than "well it's sort of alright". There's hundreds of people involved in making these shows but relatively few writing and producing and I just don't think they're that great at it

Ahead of the second season release next month on Disney +, Disney have helpfully put episodes 1-3 of the first season of Andor on YouTube. Star Wars for grown ups/people that don't like Star Wars. It's a GREAT show

I was a bit as well and but when I saw that tickets seemed to be selling out I took the plunge. Must admit, despite reading an article about them coming back last week I hadn't even realised a tour had been booked until a friend told me

Bought tickets for the Beta Band at Rock City in September. Saw them there on their farewell tour years ago, a group pretty much cancelled through lack of interest in a half empty venue, and here we are, I dunno, more than 20 years later and it's nearly sold out. Funny old world etc

Whether they're article 9 compliant I haven't a clue as that's EU legislation and the portfolio is all UK collectives as far as I know. It's all stuff that will be caught by the SDR rules and I don't believe either of the portfolio ranges I have got their FCA labels yet, or how hard they're trying to get them. It's a minefield and I'm not evangelical about it, you can't be when it's other people making the investment decisions and so much is subjective anyway. I'm just going for stuff where I'm hoping it's less likely my money is being invested in blowing up Gazan hospitals or squirting chemicals into beagles' eyes or whatever. A couple of years ago it was on a great run relative to the the non ESG equivalents but that's flipped on its head of late, but I'm not sure it's doing badly enough for me to give up on my vague principles just yet...

In reality I couldn't really give a toss about what's going on at the minute as it's pension money that I'm not expecting to touch for at ten years. Also, having been working in financial services since the 90s, I've seen it all before anyway - it's all about those long term fundamentals, baby. Being fully in ESG investments has probably cost me more than the Orange fatberg of late anyway and when I can be arsed I'll have a look at the options and maybe do a bit of tinkering - the non ESG version of what I'm in is about as good as it gets Managed Portfolio wise but I'll have a look to see what it's invested in before I decide how much I'm prepared to compromise my metropolitan liberal elite principles

Trump's cost me about fifteen grand so far. And this is completely unrelated, how much would a good international hitman cost? Asking for a friend etc

I could be the king of intermediate if I really put my mind to it, what an aspiration

Yeah, I signed up on the day of the last one when I was a bit disappointed with how I did in that. I was starting to think it was a false memory as I could find no record of it but it turned out my acknowledgement email said it was for the 2024 event, unhelpfully. I've logged in and they are expecting me, which is a bit of a pain as my form is feeble at the minute. Mind you, even at my best I'm still firmly in the second group category
