  2. Was your contract not legally with the people you actually employed, and therefore they are responsible for the sub contractors? You didn't directly employ the sub contractors, so how can you be responsible for them, surely the company you contracted are responsible for the subbies and they should have risk assessed the environment? https://www.hse.gov.uk/construction/cdm/2015/principal-contractors.htm This reads to me as though your contractor is the responsible party for the subbies rather than you Lots of use of the word contract/ors there, sorry!
  3. I've just remembered pet insurance too, ours includes personal liability insurance and I don't think it's limited to claims related to the dogs, so if you have any pet insurance check that too!
  4. Do any of your bank accounts or cards include any legal cover or personal liability insurance?
  5. I can't deny it looks incredible, but at over €6000 a night I can't justify it unfortunately We do need somewhere to stay overnight the day we arrive in Dubai before the cruise though, and as we're there for a significant birthday of mine maybe we'll treat ourselves to one of the cheaper rooms
  6. We're going with the Germans on TUI Cruises, the German equivalent of Marella That's all really helpful, thank you, and the dhow boat looks lovely, we will definitely book that. Yes we will have a couple of days in Dubai and I'd seen the Hop on hop off bus so will probably book that too

  8. That's a proper blast from the past for me, I'd forgotten all about it but I used to love it there
  9. I have so many questions about this! My first one is did he have longish hair to start with? He must have, surely?! But more importantly, can he sky the ball over the bar at a crucial time for his country, crushing the dreams of his compatriots and leading generations into a never ending feeling of football failure at a national level? If he can, fairplay, he must have some big shoulders to go with his new haircut
  10. Oh and apparantly when I said MX5 I meant CX5, see how out of touch I am? I did wonder when you mentioned the Fiat Spider, and I'm guessing now that there isn't an Abarth SUV. Might have to sack off the big boot and more space for the teenager idea, leave her at home and get a trailer for the sportscar #notsocoolvibeswhenyou'renearly50
  11. Thanks, that's the reason we've changed tbh, a bit of a culture change and a move away from the norm. Can't believe you haven't been to Doha tbh, I feel like you've travelled the world round at least three times, maybe that will be my claim to fame when we return, I've been somewhere @grobyfox1990 hasn't
  12. Hopefully they have upgraded aircon and no leather to be seen Yeah my husband had a look at an Arkana earlier and the outcome was 'fvck me you can't get much in the boot' I think we spoke about this before, and looking back this may have been about the time I had given up on keeping up, I had never heard of it I don't think, but if I let my heart rule my head it's what we will end up with But now you mention Abarth, maybe I'll reconsider the Alfa
  13. We decided to sack off the cruise round the Canary Islands for somewhere a bit more adventurous, well for me anyway, so we now have 7 days leaving and returning to Dubai and visiting Abu Dhabi, Oman and Qatar. Apart from the obvious trying to stay out of trouble, covering myself up and generally trying not to get arrested, does anyone have any tips for Khasab, Muscat and Doha? Most importantly can I drink wine anywhere other than the ship?!
  14. The Thames barrier used to be a hit with my children, they enjoyed the ride out there on the DLR, there's a nice park and a couple of places to get something to eat or drink. Plus the obvious edge of the Thames and the barrier itself! It made a nice change of scenery from the city
  15. I've realised this afternoon that I have gone from being someone who loves driving and is up to date with all the latest models of cars, to someone who has competely lost interest really, and has no clue what's around any more. We need to start looking at replacing our 2014 Renault Captur, and we want something at least the same size or bigger, and similar, SUV style. @tom27111 I'm looking to you for some advice on Renaults if you've sold them recently? I've seen the Renault Austral which looks lovely but it's a hybrid and I have no idea how they work really, much to my shame, I've always been a petrol girl. I know it's the Kadjar replacement so maybe one of those would be better if they've come down in price? We do lots and lots of motorway kms driving all over Spain and Portugal, I don't know if that should influence our choice? I also like the look of the Alfa Tonale , and the Mazda MX5. Whatever we have needs to be fully keyless entry and start, are they all like that these days though? I don't want leather, but I do want automatic, I think all the Austral's are though. I don't think telling you my budget will help as 2nd hand car values in Spain are crazy compared to the UK Fvck me I sound like a proper woman driver, it must be my age, or the move to Spain, I dunno but I need some help please!

    Ukraine

In what way exactly would you say you sympathise with the Russians? Weren't you posting earlier on this thread suggesting we shouldn't believe everything we see about the invasion into Ukraine, because it wasn't as bad as it looked? Apologies if that wasn't you

  21. I got at far as the warning and couldn’t watch it for obvious reasons. I'm glad it's here though, and I hope it helps avoid other families going through what we are.
  22. Obviously I was joking about why Australia are part of Eurovision, the real reason they and countries like Israel, which are not part of Europe, are part of Eurovision is to do with the broadcasting companies. Members of the European Broadcasting Union are eligible for entry into Eurovision, regardless of their geographical location, at least that's how I understand it. Australia are a recent addition but Israel have been in it for years.
  23. No, but they were allowed to join because they might as well be British.
  24. Because the UK is still part of Europe
