  1. Was the Sky Sports + thing just got last week's 3pms? Guessing normally will still be a blanket ban on showing them?
  2. To be fair Wrexham are part football club part hype machine. Buying players from clubs recently in the Prem or players who have a history with the club works for their documentary and thus their turnover. They'll be fine this season overall, but probably nothing more than mid-table.
  3. I genuinely think Ward would be great at dodgeball.
  4. How many games is it going to take for them to realise he's shite.
  5. Liverpool should be more fun to watch this year.
  6. What a performance from Semenyo.
  7. My initial gut reasoning on a "no" for this was actually everyone's favourite statistic...possession! Whilst it is certainly far from being the most useful measure of performance, I think it does tell something of a story, and if we generally average 55%+ I just can't see that failing to get enough points over a season to survive. The weight of that pressure will be telling in enough games even if the overall play is leaving a lot to be desired. Decided to have a scan back over the last 9 years of Championship football to see what the highest values were for relegated sides. Only Derby in 2022 with 51.2% and Wigan in 2017 with 50.7% had average values above 50%. Derby of course incurred a big points deduction that year so wouldn't have gone down without that. I think it would take a combination of continued underperformance, selling of best players without replacement in the next 2 weeks, and a hefty deduction for us to go down.
  8. Not with the players at our disposal and the way we play. Luton has everyone spooked, but they're very much an anomaly.
  9. Ayew's was bad. Shout-out for Fryatt failing to score past Windass. But Kermo wins this easily.
  10. This is part of the challenge Marti has now. To be able to assess and nurture these players. So many were off it yesterday that it was a tough environment to shine in. Ideally we need a game where we're looking pretty comfortable at 60 and he can come on for a team playing with a bit of confidence. He needs to be in and around the squad this season otherwise I think his future lies elsewhere.
  11. Jack of no trades, master of none.
  12. The one area that gives me slight hope in terms of the league is that other "contenders" haven't hit the ground running either. I guess disruption with players potentially leaving and such does affect things quite negatively. For the neutrals I think the Champ could be quite fun this year, but I'd take a playoff spot for us right now as I'm not confident we can achieve more.
  13. Thought we looked a bit like we were treating it as a friendly. I get that it's not a competition we were going to win, but too many people just happy to turn up and put in minimal effort today. Gonna need a decent league performance or two to settle some unease.
  14. Winks is determined to be miserable 😂
  15. It's probably not hugely surprising that lots of changes throws up some sub par performances across all teams. Second game of the season and many here will not have had as much game time pre-season.
  16. Didn't think Soumare would end up looking more up for this than a lot of the academy lads.
  17. McKenna confirmed it was the player's decision to not play. Ipswich Town: Kieran McKenna on Omari Hutchinson transfer speculation | East Anglian Daily Times https://share.google/xwGrhOHpPbLBKrU6D
  18. Interesting that all the press and pundits were positive around Ipswich this season but looks like there's a bit of unrest there. Hutchinson refusing to play last night, Broadhead "sick", and potentially Davies off too.
  19. Retaliatory dragging of feet after we dragged ours?
  20. More I think about the points Ric made above, I wonder if our sale timings is a little strategic. A 3-year ending 24/25 breach would overlap 2/3 with the period we know we're getting punished for. This would hopefully mean a minor punishment of an extra point or two, in a season we know we have a deduction anyway. Early sales to force compliance in 3ye 24/25 might make 25/26 breach more likely which would only have a 1/3 overlap and would hit us in an otherwise deduction free season. Maybe this season's target is play offs at best, with a clean slate and push next year. Or maybe we're trying to apply logic to a board that displays none.
  21. But I think bringing in players could have forced this more too? If you get bodies in and players know they've got a year doing nowt then it might encourage them to move.
  22. I think the points you made make sense, though I guess there's a counter point that if we thought an embargo could be hitting us down the line we'd be looking to do MORE business now.
  23. Be surprised if someone was willing to stump up £30m for him. If we could make some smart moves in the loan market then it wouldn't be a bad deal for us, though we lose a huge amount of creativity. Obviously irrelevant on the pros and cons if it's a release clause of course.
  24. So instead we stick with the 2 CMs who were crap against a team in absolute turmoil?
