The xG stats are a tad misleading for us and seem largely dependent on game state. Up to the goal we had the much inferior xG, with Sheff Weds creating the better chances. They then get the goal and create a game state ripe for us to fill our boots with xG. Admittedly the same could also be said for Southampton to an extent.

It's just be better for all parties if we could get a sale through before the end of the window. He's more than capable at this level but let's just get rid and move on.
-
Not worth half of what we paid. Which means he won't be going anywhere but we need to be in a position where he's back up only.

Thought the first half was pretty worrying, we just didn't turn up and had a very uninspiring midfield. Thankfully Marti recognised this and changed at half time, with Winks making a huge difference. I thought at times they looked fearful of us second half and the red card probably made the win inevitable. Work to be done though.

Don't think he was ever destined to stay beyond his contract with us. If we'd have stayed up we might have got another year out of him but bigger clubs would have been circling by then. -
Gonna be a fun league this year.

Surprised how bad Southampton have looked defensively.

The longer it takes for Southampton and Ipswich to shake off last season's funk, the better for us imo. Yes Wrexham are annoying but only one of these will be challenging at the top end this season.

Wrexham penalty

Yeh already better quality than was on display yesterday. Southampton struggling to impose themselves on the game as yet, Wrexham uncomplicated but effective.
-
How has this guy managed to convince another manager that he's capable of playing actual games?
-
This is the Ipswich we know hahaha. Penalty.

Think I'd be a bit worried as an Ipswich fan. Birmingham look pretty average but have been comfortably the better side. This is only one game of course.
-
Thought this was going to be a good game, seems I was wrong.
-
To be fair to Ipswich I think they got this fixture at the worst time possible. But they aren't looking great here.
-
This has been messy.

Would have liked a little more money as I think he is worth more, but I think business we've done elsewhere has allowed us to take a little less here. We've had a pretty sensible window overall.
-
This his passing range could be useful but it's so far down the priority list.

I never really bought football shirts until fairly recently but a few ones I liked appeared over recent years and I built a small collection. I'm always staggered at the quality difference on Leicester shirts, they don't feel nice or fit nicely. I know it's a bit more money but you compare the quality of something like the Argentina or Germany anniversary kits to ours and it's night and day.

It seems the obvious value bet given the price only looks sensible if you think we're getting a 9+ point deduction. If it was a known -4 I think we'd be around 6/1. Have had a dabble myself in the hope the deduction lands in the 4-6 range. Edit: I'm referring to winning the league odds here.

It'll be akin to some of those friendlies you see pre-season where one side is a couple of weeks ahead of another in terms of preparation. Makes a huge difference. And that's before factoring in all the other crap they've got going on. This fixture should be seen as a great opportunity rather than a banana skin.

I was feeling pretty bullish about Ipswich for a while. They bought good Champ quality, seemingly accepting early that they were going to drop and determined to put themselves in a good position to bounce back. They've also kept their manager, adding stability compared to the other two relegated teams. Then I saw them at our place. Not the best of games by any stretch but the fact they kind of limped to a 0-2 against us, who were awful, was a bit of a red flag for me. They'll be in the mix for sure, but I think a lot could hinge on the start. Birmingham, Southampton, Sheff Utd all in their first 5 games, if they have a good start they'll coast it but equally a lot of nervousness could creep in.
-
Not buying the bang up for this take. No excuses here. Their pre season prep has been awful, there's huge doubts over the future of the club, they might not know when they'll get paid. They can be as "up for it" as they like but we should put these to the sword if we have any aspirations of getting promoted.

Smart deal all round.

I think this is just destined forever to be an awful mistake. The thing is, transfers aren't as easy as people often make out, but this one was so patently a bad move from day 1 you do question what the hell was going on. The fee for Skipp would have been a bit insane for a normal club, but for one who has PSR issues it seems it was just evidence that past failures haven't been learnt from. Even comparing it to the lump alongside him at the weekend, I could at least see some logic in the Soumare signing. I said previously I thought he'd be a decent player for us in the Champ but I've massively downgraded my expectations since then. Looks like an average Champ clogger at the moment.
