Daka at least gets into great positions, times his runs well and is demonstrably trying. He is in terrible form but he knows how to play as a striker. I don't think Soumare knows his role here and doesnt seem prepared to put the work in to learn

That is what makes me so angry. We all know Ward isnt good enough but I do think he is trying. And he isn't good enough, and that is okay, because most footballers on the planet arent good enough for prem football (it is really the club and the manager's fault Ward is in this position). But Soumare? There is talent but he acts disinterested on the field. He is lazy. He switches off. That is Sunday league stuff. Unforgiveable in a pro footballer.

If there is one player I genuinely dislike on this team, it is this guy. It is the laziness. Rarely helps the defence, doesnt do much for the attack. Waddles around the field with no awareness. He is an empty carbs kind of footballer. He has had two seasons and has shown zilch improvement. He remains lazy and ignorant of his role in the team. Get. Rid.

He is not competent at this level. I think he'd be an okay championship keeper. We elevated him when he was content beinv a backup and it shows.

Ward never, ever saves a goal he shouldnt. Never pulls off a worldie. We are so hampered by that lump in goal. Faes was poor too. Onto the next

I see no reason the club won't replace him in the summer... all the stuff about Rodgers sticking with him because he is too proud is speculation. Until then, we must endure a championship keeper between our sticks.

I agree. I am no fan of Rodgers, he seemed too keen to throw the club under the bus when things got tough. But he is, objectively, one of our most successful coaches. An FA Cup, TWO 5th place finishes and a European finish. Incredible. People acting like it is a failure if we don't thrive in the Europa League are not being fair. Before Brendan, we barely played in Europe! If he galvanises the team and we have a successful second half of the season, then Top's unpopular gamble paid off. I should say; I don't like Brendan. I wish he was sacked earlier in the season. But he wasnt and I wish him and the team all the best. And I wont downplay his achievement just cause he's a gremlin.

I think it's fair to say he is our weak link. But as long as his head is above water, he is doing the basics right, we can manage with him until the summer. We do need an upgrade and I am certain the club will bring someone new in. I wonder what Ward will do when that happens? He is clearly good championship standard; why not go somewhere and play every week?

He'd be decent for a playoff pushing team. Some of the criticism of him is over the top. He is absolutely decent championship standard, makes good saves, can come out for crosses, decent with his feet. He isnt prem quality at all but that doesnt make him a bad footballer. He is a good footballer. People want to kick a guy just for the sake of it.

He is such an uprgrade on Thomas, it is quite unbelieveable.

Jury is out but it is his first match and he did some things brilliantly. That last ditch cross was class. And he is very good at corners. Good debut for the big lad.

Thought he was fantastic today after a few dodgy performances. We need him to be our general in the second half of the season

He covered a lot of ground today, as usual. Instrumental in two goals. First the steal and then an utterly exquisite pass to Harvey Barnes in the lead up to the second goal. It was possible the best pass of the entire game.

A team with Kristiansen, Tielemans, Tete, Maddison and Barnes has no right to go down. Tighten up at the back and we will finish midtable.

Ward isnt good enough but he got a fantastic glove on a dangerous cross to stop a Watkins tap in. He'd be an excellent championship keeper. No shame in that, I hope he finds a club where he can be the number one for a long time. I just dont want it to be us.
