Who ate all the pies?🥧

Your story and that of Alf Bentley are definately good cop bad cop

Perhaps we met! I was there for 3 years, at the University, between 84 and 88. I went back about 7 years ago for a visit. I thought the new area next to the Kennet, with the places to eat and drink, was nice (and the new railway station extension!)

This was in the 1980s, when I lived there. I dont know if it´s very polluted but it´s a reasonably big river in Reading. It´s surprising the size of the fish that get caught in small rivers and canals. In the Erewash canal pike and carp of upto 20 lb have been caught.

Was that the driver's first and last driving job?
-
If the bloke had been carrying fish and chips he might have got battered

Can they play left back?
-
Why is It that after a home game there is always one bloke trying to cycle against a tide of thousands of fans?

One for the anglers. Walking through Reading on the way to Elm Park, I watched a bloke battling a fish he'd hooked in the River Kennet. After 5 mins he pulled out a barbel of about 6 lbs.

Sadly enough I think I remember that photo. Is it from Carry on Camping? I seem to remember Barbara Windsor (playing a 16 year old) doing some vigorous exercises and her Bristols popped out (for half a second)

Now the title of the topic has been changed, new readers won´t get your joke. A pity because it was a classic!

I thought this might happen. I suppose our game against BC will be moved to the Wednesday without waiting for the outcome of PV-BC

Mid 90s - drove over to Grimsby, parked the car, put the radio on and heard the game had been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Similarly, on the way to Brighton, on the train, at the last stop before Brighton they announced the game had been postponed, due to a flooded pitch. We went to the replayed games and Leicester won both of them

First time I went to Selhurst Park, for the FA Cup game in 84, we came out of Norwoood Junction station and followed 2 lads who looked like football fans. After a few minutes we saw some floodlights and carried on, only to find out they were in a railway sidings. We eventually found the ground, but we lost 1-0

Did Rovers miss 2 pens? That might explain why their fans were a bit miffed - or perhaps they´d had a bit too much scrumpy
-
Yes. some people do, despite the cost.

I see what you did there . My life is very boring - I´m the James Milner of the fan world. In fact the excitement didn´t end there. We beat Pompey and then we got on the train back to London, only to find it full of the Chelsea mob coming back from Forest, after they´d lost 7-0. Fortunately they were OK and didn´t kick our heads in

Has anything interesting or strange happened on your way to or from a Leicester game? Before the home game against Portsmouth on April 20th 1991, I was in the city centre with my brother when a lady said to me "He´s stealing that bike". We turned and saw a dodgy looking bloke with bolt cutters trying to steal a padlocked bike, with an equally dodgy looking woman keeping guard. We approached him and before it got nasty I had a brainwave and said "I´ll going to tell that copper". There was no copper but it worked and they walked off. We carried on to the ground. It felt good, but perhaps they just waited a couple of minutes, returned and nicked it! I´ve got some more interesting tales, but my lawyer has advised me not to make them public.

Or sipping a Martini with Lord Lucan?
-
Can I be one of the the blokes who just sits on the bench during a game doing nothing except chewing gum and occasionally nodding in agreement with the manager? Or the bloke who hands out the drinks bottles or one of the blokes who just watches the game on a monitor and occasionally points at the screen? In fact I could do all of those jobs at the same time.
-
If and when there is a change of owner, or we enter administration, I can see many jobs being cut at LCFC (Jim Ratcliffe style).
-
I honestly think that those who are "in charge" may have thought "Let´s save money by not appointing a manager and assistants, and hope we stay up"
-
Oops. I meant "Filbert Way" 😯
