Best to use a mixture of materials as grass cuttings, alone or with other fresh leaves, will quickly rot down into a mush. You can use the other materials that people here have suggested, but it´s best to include some twiggy prunings to keep the mixture aerated. Avoid fatty materials. I also add a bit of soil to speed up the process. Occasional mixing, every week or so, will keep the compost aerated. I would make separate batches (rather than constantly adding stuff) and leave them for at least 3 months to get decent compost. The mixture should be warm/hot in the middle for a few days. If it reaches 60 C that is ideal because it kills the weed seeds and harmful microbes. If you can´t use all the grass cuttings for compost, you could apply them as a mulch on the soil surface around your plants (but not touching the stems), where they´ll stop weeds from growing

One book we did at school in the 80s was Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley. I read it again several years ago and, although it drags a bit in parts, it is a great book. Considering it was published in the 1930s, it´s vision of a future world is uncanny in several respects. Other books we read at school were Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night´s Dream, The Collector, Tom Sawyer, and A Kind of Loving. I saw the Watership Down film in 1978 when I was 12, so the political/regime aspects went totally over my head! Perhaps they were removed from the film.

I´m not from Leicester, so a few years ago I bought the book "The Quality of Leicester", published by Leicester City Council It´s full of interesting photos and explanations. It´s surprising how many interesting buildings or features there are around the city, although often you have to raise your view above the shops to apreciate them.

It´s a difficult one. I only come to Leicester for the football, by train, and don´t go into the centre very often. When I´ve been there, the Cultural Quarter and Highcross seemed busy. Leicester has a number of wide roads where trams could operate, but the initial cost would be the stumbling block, I suppose. Converting city centre buildings into flats (for under 35s who live alone or as couples) might result in those people spending money in the centre. There is a need to find out what (if anything) has worked in other, similar-sized cities and implement it in Leicester. For example, has the tram system been a success in Nottm and has it boosted the city centre?

In the garden, parsley grows for one summer, overwinters and flowers the following summer, then dies off. You can sow the seeds, but they take at least 2 weeks to germinate. The plants in pots you buy in shops will probably die off. Leave them in the garden over the winter and see if they sprout the next year If you have a lot, freeze the excess leaves

I can´t be a bigot, I read the Guardian (and I pay for it!) I think I said (I haven´t checked) that it is natural for people to dislike/mistrust people who are different from them, the reason being that (biologically) they are a seen as a threat (they could kill us, steal our food, etc.). This is a genetic, hereditary thing that can manifest itself today as racism/anti-immigration sentiments. The more different someone is then the more we dislike/mistrust them. For example, the people trying to get into the USA via Mexico are almost all poor, Catholic, and don´t speak English. That is why, in my opinion, Trump and his cronies, dislike them so much. On Foxes Talk we have people saying they hate Forest/Derby/Cov. Calm down!

There is bigotry and prejudice all around the world. Some of the most vehement anti-immigration views are expressed by people whose families only arrived perhaps 1 generation before. Likewise, there has always been racial/religious bigotry in Britain. The targets for this have varied over the centuries: Jews, Catholics, French, German, Irish, Afro-Caribbeans, Indians and Pakistanis, Eastern Europeans, Muslims....
