  1. Nicely done @Finnegan - let the Court of Public Opinion be adjourned!
  2. To be honest, this is a good exchange, as it gives me a chance to say its too easy to look at the unknown and see an answer to our problems, whilst at the same time to dismiss those we see as not exciting or have little resale value. (Its about entertainment to a degree so this is certainly fair) However, these old boys are very well regarded by fans at their previous clubs, and they offer a level of fight we may well need, so will not dismiss them for that alone. Yes, they have no resale value, yes they are boring signings, yes they will be on higher wages than an unknown prospect, but do they offer a better chance of staying up? I think probably just about yes. However I would rather buy loads of prospects and take the risk of an embarrassing relegation But its not my business is it? So I guess I am trying to communicate is that I can easily see this being a choice by the club as a best chance of staying up approach.
  3. So this suggests you feel that Soulé and O'Reilly would be more beneficial for the team next season then BDCR and Ayew? Using your Eze/Olise as samples. Realise I am being a contrarian but that is just my way.
  4. You side stepped the main question, but fine. I did not want these two either, but to suggest Soule or O’Reilly would be better in this league is guesswork, although they would both surely be better in terms of resale value undoubtedly. We also need to accept that star men from existing PL clubs are not going to want to join us unless they are surplus or offered silly wages (The Leicester modus operandi). As much as I would like to see us fill up with worldwide hot prospects, do we honestly think this provides a better chance of staying up? (Or does it just pass the eye test much easier?) Would rather fill up with prospects, train them, get relegated, come back up stronger. We see to be filling with experience in an attempt to not get relegated which from a financial perspective I understand, despite its tedious nature.
  5. Not saying I totally disagree, but you have framed this so two unknowns in this division would save us, but two who did well last season in this division, would not. Why? Age bias? Not being fashionable signings?
  6. He would be a boring, unexciting, unimaginative signing, but he is not a deadbeat.
  7. I understand what you mean, but I tend to watch them to ground things, not as a directive in anyway, but yes the observations without too much irony is a bit cheeky.
  8. Have to limit my Adam Curtis intake, it can be sobering and saddening if I watch it too often, as much as I love it.
  9. Think it was reported that was not his ideal at all and most were imposed.
  10. So a kid will be likely to help us stay up? Weird perspective. He would be better at that, but obviously another who disturbingly has no resale value. All depends if we plan to try and stay up I imagine, or prepare to go down and then back up with a younger squad more prepared. The current resale value question is answered by Abdul and Mads and probably one more with resale value to come in.
  11. Its funny cos its true
  12. Isn't he a bit good to be a number two? (he may actually be crap but I have heard of him, so..)
  13. Also suspect people get bent out of shape regardless of the quality of the source is a hobby for some.
  14. Wasn’t there a belief that once Juventus sold Soule (and Chiesa?) they would move for Koopmeiners? This would free up the requisite cash you would assume.
  15. We pay too much in wages so people won’t match them
  16. Plenty of times it is stated that a certain level of effort is a minimum expectation, neither of these displayed this with regularity and this is where it applies regardless of position.
  17. People complaining about Soumare not breaking a sweat but pining for Kelechi.
  18. Was reacting to what some of what the Arsenal fans were saying, so I assume he has. Trying to find out more on some of the Arsenal forums, but not finding them very usable!
  19. Arsenals fans really torn at the minute as he has been great in pre-season, and they even suggest he is better as a 10 than out wide. They do accept that despite a good pre-season he is unlikely to play should he stay however.
  20. You could easily argue that Rodgers going was more impactful than Ward being dropped, but there is no denying Wards impactful ineptness though.
  21. The officer should be duly punished, but there is no harm in presenting the video showing what led to him losing his cool, not to justify his behaviour but to illustrate a 10 second clip rarely shows the whole story.
  22. Ah, you need an invite to the super secret politics thread. That is where all the transfer gossip happens.
