  1. Nationalism has become the misdirect of a capitalist without morals.
  2. Think that’s fair. Marti does and will get things wrong, all managers do, to suggest otherwise is just not realistic. I am very much in the trust the process camp, fair to say and at this point, with where we are, post relegation, and all the other derailing factors that began his tenure, happy enough if not electrified. The fact we are discussing team selection rather than league jeopardy is a positive, although fully accept that the use of youth transcends any given season.
  3. Never seen Skyline and it’s free on YouTube at the moment. Started watching it. Early reports suggest it’s shite.…
  4. Anything getting kids away from social media pressures for a period of time can only be a positive, and kids don’t associate Halloween with death, that’s an association that comes later. They are only really scarred by that big fat red house invader who turns up annually.
  5. Was not suggesting you were pointing the finger, was more suggesting I am not. All our players make regular mistakes, it’s where we are as a club right now, and the whole who would give us a better chance of going up underpins all these decisions in my mind, and there is no doubt it is preferable to see exciting homegrown talent on the pitch, rather than the same old cloggers who have a fairly substantial back catalogue of cock ups. Can see both sides to be honest, if the manager is expected to get promoted and feels youth can get us up, then you would expect to see it happen and it’s on him if we don’t see them, but if he does not feel youth can get us promoted and is still expected to get us promoted, then I get the over abundance of the old guard in the short term.
  6. If Ben were to take Faes’ spot in the squad, I would hope he gets Faes minutes, but you are likely right that Okoli comes in and Ben only climbs up one spot. Would love to know what aim Marti was given for the season! As going all out for promotion is fine is we had financial flexibility, and as we don’t AND we want promotion, then surely you would hard push youth into the team. Not going to point the finger at Marti as we cannot know if he was given a ‘promotion or else’ message or not.
  7. As I have stated many times, and nobody seems willing to acknowledge it, CB’s almost to a man, break through much later than more attacking players. If you track Ben’s pathway at Leicester City, he is basically inline with expectations, injury notwithstanding. So unless we think he is nigh on generational, like Monga, then he is not in an unpredictable situation. Should he have gone on loan until January, yes definitely but even that depends on what other movement we expected to occur. If he comes into the side towards Christmas and we offload Faes in the winter window, we are all good. This feels like yet another thing to beat the management with, but in this instance I am not sure it’s quite on point. (But there is plenty of ammo left! The striker situation springs too mind)
  8. Way too much faux outrage and projection for my tastes.
  9. This is all based of assumption about what you feel is appropriate for a young promising CB, one who had had some experience, albeit at a club with lower expectations. Young CB's do typically emerge later than other outfield players, there are exceptions of course. I'd would say it is also coloured by the fact we have many scars caused by current administration, so the default position is of an understandable distrust of them. Is he starts from January, then he will be on schedule, his injury having caused a minor delay. This is what I hope, and I would warrant this is what Ben would prefer.
  10. I hope someone else goes and he plays! Why the hell would anyone want anything else!?!?!!
  11. He is doing fine, we are clearly not firing on all cylinders, and he has not started off in a way some would ideally like. As somebody mentioned, if it was made clear he should achieve promotion by the board (an error in my book), then he was never going to play that many emerging talents (like Nelson, but he should have gone on loan until January) and I suppose it also shows how highly thought of Monga is. Agree that we will be at least one defender lighter after the Winter Window.
  12. From Our Price? Just read they have actually relaunched.
  13. You can argue that we should not have had too, but our failure to adapt was why we ended us hamstringing ourselves. Yes, it would have meant reigning in our ambitions, or at least rescheduling them for the longer term, but we did fail to adapt. I realise you are not suggesting we are blameless, nor am I that the authorities do seek to ensure all eyes remain on the more globally desirable clubs, but I think there is enough blame to go around on all sides tbh.
  14. There is no rope long enough to rescue you at this point.
  15. See people still working hard to be negative. #lifestooshort
  16. You could also make the point that we, in our green and pleasant land, live in a house made exclusively of glass.
  17. Based on the book Roadside Picnic I believe (screenplay by the authors, Strugatsky’s brothers) Acquired taste is the polite term.
  18. If that’s the case, then definitely time for a celebratory drink to wish the #### a miserable time in hell,
  19. Not good news imho. His suffering is now over, yes there is no disputing he deserved it, but neither did he deserve the early ‘release’ of being killed. I am sure his time in prison as a paedo would have been rightfully horrendous.
  20. Sounds like some pay-per-view Fox-on-Fox action is incoming.
  21. Maybe people’s finances are in a worse state than last time, and attending games might be thing that has to give?
  22. Fully understand, to me it all comes down to if you default to suspicion and distrust when not presented with all the facts or not. We don’t have all the facts, so I checked on when young CBs break through, and he is not a wildly different schedule to most, especially when you consider his injury. However we are in the Championship, he has been here and did well, so not sure the situations are quite comparable, but it is possible to see a potential why. The alternatives are that he is either not good enough or Marti’s an asshole, neither option is particularly pleasant!
  23. Not sure I said to the contrary, and speculation is what a forum is basically fuelled by, and as we can't know, we have no choice but to.......speculate.
  24. Two things CBs operate more like a pair than anywhere else on the pitch, and we are windy disrupting it We actually are not holding him back historically, in terms of Leicester (injury notwithstanding) as we seem naturally risk averse with promoting CBs
