  1. Not so sure, as there is no purpose in the land, nor in us beyond what we ourselves decide, that in itself being somewhat of a vain conceit, so stating a preference is irrelevant. Better to use our self importance to pursue a path that benefits the all, land and all upon it, rather than to squabble like children in the belief our import would somehow render us immune from the consequences of our own actions. Understand the argument that we defend to continue, but are we not seeking to protect those who fail to protect us, instead of seeking to alleviate the consequences? (They failed to protect us from)
  2. Write to MP - check Forgo some holidays/materialistic things to make domestic environmental improvements - check Make ethical choices wherever possible - check Get family life on an ethical footing and mindset - check Clearly not enough, but I am sure it will feel good to list these things whilst fighting 45 degree heat Celsius ) during the end days
  3. Direction of travel is important also I assume, and I do not agree with it for 1 second, but it seems obvious this would occur. (Its always important to try and recognise all points of view in my opinion, even when they are abhorrent) Would far rather all resources were put towards ensuring we do everything we can to head of the climate crisis, here and abroad, and maximise the standard of living everywhere we can. But politics has become a polarising popularist sh*t show, where facts and greater good are an inconvenience, I see little hope in much that we witnessing.
  4. Yes for the average joe, but not convinced it would create as much growth, and in this climate I am unsure any Government could survive not bolstering the military.
  5. A push to reinforce the armed forces is like any infrastructure investment, a creator of jobs and a creator of growth, and against the current climate, warranted or not, it’s a vote winner. Yes, ideally we put it in the bin and invest elsewhere, but investment is investment.
  6. So, so many times I believed it was thus.
  7. Turned into HMS Piss It’s Pants it seems….
  8. A small oasis of positivity It neither lessens or cheapens the past ‘issues’ it just embraces a potential future that may not be totally negative.
  9. Looks like a Brexit vote, and we know how that went.
  10. Would argue that our confidence in democracy has not yet been challenged to the same degree as in the US.

    The Weather

Had a dyson for years but it finally gave up the ghost, so got a Shark, both pedestal and table top (cordless then, fan slips off the pedestal ) and has a mister to spray you water (for outside use) Pretty happy with tbh
  12. Following up on the house batteries install, it is looking well worth it, electricity numbers for this week very good KWH is very similar to pre batteries, cost is a fraction compared
  13. One of the most unashamed terrifying things for the future of human agency I have ever read.
  14. The point about being asset rich vs earnt wealth is valid I think. Assets should suffer wealth capture at a higher rate than earnt wealth for many reasons. One of which is to incentivise work. In terms of the article, fair enough, not the sort of wealth we want really.
  15. Probably.
  16. Think that is just incendiary journalism in part, and possibly detracts from a serious story, no matter how any individual perceives it.
  17. Why? You say you understand people should have the option, but are negative towards opening this capability as a positive, even celebratory for some.. Aren’t those two things at odds?
  18. Yes, as other have said, just get yourself checked out. Likely be a weight of your mind whatever the doctor says.
  19. https://theconversation.com/what-if-the-big-bang-wasnt-the-beginning-our-research-suggests-it-may-have-taken-place-inside-a-black-hole-258010 Probably posted earlier but too lazy to look back more than one page
  20. We recently got some house batteries through Sustain/Solar Together plan through the local authority. Turn on from Monday, arrived at 50% and have about 15kWh capacity. Work at home and the average cost was about £25-30, now as we are charging the batteries overnight, the weekly cost is looking to be ~£14. This on Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, so looks like it may well be good choice before long. Maybe useful info for others.
  21. You got Nicky P to keep you going! As I get older, and having MS I worry it will get to me before I see it coming. Been here 25 years, wish they would put the old knacker out to pasture!
  22. Managing an outsource team who share this strong work ethic, dealing with reactive problems. Now also providing oversight on more internal teams, interviewing, training new starters. Feeding into project teams. Make me wonder how a 4 day week could even work.
  23. Fear not, by hook or by crook, will be back being an irritating contrarian soon enough!
  24. Work had been almost unbearably fierce of late, many long days, starting at 6am finishing at 6pm or even later. If never seems enough. My balance is wrong I know, but I have always had a strong work ethic, and a pride in what I do. Software Development for what it's worth Has anyone moved to a four day week and has it helped them or just compressed the same work load into even less time? Recognise I am fortunate in that we paid our mortgage off last year, but with my wife being made redundant recently, I also don't want to leave us short. Just looking for personal experiences in reducing their workloads and rebalancing their work life balance really. Some might feel my lack of posts is a good thing, but I need to return to my contrarian bent as soon as possible!!
