Can see why Ayew is starting at 9. Even if he improves, he is fundamentally not very good and so will be back to Feyenoord next summer. -
Exactly. He's full of shite.

What do you call a non-spinning spinner? -
Oh I do hope not, remember there's only two parties in the States, whereas here I'm guessing around 60% of voters would be moderate/liberal/left across different parties. There's be no mandate for what you are suggesting and you'd be looking at wholesale public sector strikes probably. As a people, if we don't want extremism, we organise against it. No Pasarán! Trump's first Presidency was absolute chaos, it's only when Susie Wiles was appointed his campaign manager in 2022 and is now his Chief of Staff that everything became more organised. She runs the show.

Hopefully it won't come to that, we still have just under 4 years before the next GE and it would be very difficult for Reform to maintain this momentum for so long. Farage likely to get bored and as lots of people have said on here, most of them are not up for the level of perseverance and graft that it takes to be in government. Even if they did get a majority or form a coalition, Farage always falls out with everybody and it would collapse within months.

Once you open pandora's box though... Personally, I've got a 'get out of jail' Irish passport if it all goes really pete tong.

I can take you back a decade earlier and the construction of St Martin's which made a big difference. There have been changes for the better around High St, the Cathedral area and to some extent the cultural quarter. The flip side to that is Gallowtree Gate, which obviously gone downhill as it used to be the thriving hub. Overall I prefer it now when I go back, but a shame we have lost some of the independent retailers. Similar issues in many places, I have been in Maidstone about 11 years now and there's a noticeably decline here in terms of facilities and shopping as the retail areas get hollowed out. Very little money spend on anything and we basically have a closed down shopping centre all boarded up in the centre of town, that nobody is interested in, beyond more flats, but we are saturated with those already. Should be knocked down to create a green space but there's no money for that.

Yes they'll continue to do what they like. Both are billionaires, have complete artistic control and own the streaming rights to their shows. So not much Paramount can do.

Circling back to the witch hunts of the McCarthy era, where people were afraid to say anything remotely political or critical of the government for fear of being blacklisted. The TV networks in the States are petrified - declining ad spend and viewing figures, with a younger generation that doesn't watch linear TV anymore or very little broadcast TV at all. Kimmel should set up a a podcast, gives him editorial independence.

RIP RR. Very sad but a good innings. Downhill Racer, The Sting, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. One of the last truly worldwide film stars in the 70s. -

Chris Wright announced his retirement this morning. Great guy and excellent professional. I'm sure he'd be a superb coach or do well in whatever he chooses to do next. -
I mean look, my argument would be that greater distribution of wealth, more opportunities and greater say in how things work at a local level would dissipate a great deal of this feeling, but I think even then there would still be a vehicle for political opportunists to march and recruit under the banner of far-right ideology.

Doesn't really matter, it's an outlet for misplaced anger as it always has been. A home for the easily radicalised: the lonely; the economically and culturally marginalised. Nothing they say touches on the bigger issues and reasons for immigration, because that's an inconvenient truth. Why does someone want to leave their own country? Who is making money from the sale of arms to fuel wars in despotic countries, which causes so much migration? 2 million people fled Ireland during the great famine in the 19th Century as a result of British policy. The reality of the situation is that more people have more access to freedom of speech than ever in history.

Mike Joyce has a book out on 6th November: "The Drums".

Maybe they should paint St.George's flags on white teslas as a show of support.

The father is also an ex-cop. If he doesn't hand him in, there's significant fallout for the father and the rest of his family.

Positive signing if so. No.1 bowler in ODI rankings and top 20 in tests, also ranked 21 as an all-rounder. Should be a reliable bowler who can tie down an end for long periods and take wickets. -

I think it's a combination of things. Nico did some great things at the club, but it was also clear that his relationship with Claude wasn't great when he came in as DofC. Recruitment under Claude has been much improved the last couple of years, whether that as been him or the connections that Alfonso has. By all accounts, as well, the regime under Alfonso and James has been less intense and allowed players more autonomy. One of the big issues under Nico was the discipline, with player fall-outs (Carberry) and being docked points for on-field behaviour. We haven't had any of that in the last couple of years. Last mention to Handscomb, who has been brilliant as captain this season. -
That's true. Not my country, but this is a terrible escalation in attacks on people with political links. It's also only a few months since Minnesota democrat, Melissa Hortman and her husband were killed. Much less of a furore about that.

Fantastic day, I was starting to think I might not ever see us back in division 1, after growing up without 2 divisions, but it being the norm for use to challenge and win trophies. Watching the likes of Milns, Mullally, Whittaker, Maddy, Wells etc. Hopefully win the title next week against Kent, I think there's a bout £15k or so difference in the prize money between 2nd and 1st. -

Yep, we could be promoted this time tomorrow. -
Cynical. Hanks, famously collects typewriters. That's how much of a threat he is.

Then they came for Tom Hanks. Now I'm angry.
