I don't think he's mobile enough for this position. I think he might be better as a libero, but position has fallen out of fashion.

Fans have complained since the birth of the game, it's just amplified now. It's the nature of the game that it generates debate and opinion, what do footballers expect? Alternative careers are available, but they are nowhere near as generously rewarded. Some of them need to look at N'Golo Kante, what a humble individual he was.

Crikey the two ponderous guys on comms today are making me reach for the mute. Are these the free lunch brigade? -
Clearly quite a few don't fancy another season in the Championship and they need to be moved on, as we are all saying. If yesterday's performance (and I am talking body language, non-celebration of a child's first goal etc etc), is replicated against more able teams than Preston, we are in big trouble. But a lot of these behaviour is consistent with last season. Players need to take responsibility for the result and their performance, it is not all down to manager. I'm sure we have all walked into these sort of toxic job situations, where blame culture permeates and thought 'what have I done?'

Agreed. Poor first half, but got more involved second half with much better passing.

Hopefully this is the low point of the season. By next weekend, we'll have shifted a few of the 'want aways' and the new Bruno Fernandes will have two assists and a goal.
-
The manager has said himself "the squad is too big", which a polite way of saying that he wants to get rid of lots and bring in a few. As far as I'm aware he has never said 'I'm happy with this squad".

Looks like he disobeyed orders and was off as quick as he could.

What an arse

Time for the 2nd half Daka rally

we're an absolute mess

Arguably should have saved 2/3 of those goals, reactions are too slow.
-
Last game for Danny then, though watching a bit of Oronkwo mid-week, he's not the most mobile either.

Classic Ward, did the splits

Personally, I think the club needs a reset and that means getting rid of a lot of the top paid players and guys who don't want to be here and replacing them with players who are hungry and are up for the challenge of competing in the EFL. I don't know if VK wants to stay as he's an international, so may feel he needs to play in a top division somewhere, time will tell as he's injured. If he wants to play and compete, then I'd keep him as he's still very young and ha room to improve.

Started at Celtic tonight and got subbed in the 2nd half when they were 2-0 down

We need to get rid of virtually all of those earning over £30k a week.

They are probably right, but there are a couple of warm up games in Aus and if everyone's fit, he probably won't make the first XL. There are two lions matches being played at the same time as the first two tests that he could get some practice in, if not selected. -

We know his ceiling, so we should sell. The squad needs refreshing so we have to sell where we can. Otherwise it's like hanging on to a girlfriend we know we shouldn't be with just for the comfort. -

Lots of championship level full-backs that could be bought for less than we'd get for JJ -

As Neil Warnock said in Talksport this week : "Interesting dressing room with Coady and Windass". This would add to it. -
You would hope, but the sort of wages he'd be on in France, Spain or Italy would be about a quarter of what he's on here, so why would he take a pay cut when, he can move for free in 11 months with a signing on bonus. Loan with part of his wages covered is most realistic option. He's basically earning here in one year what he could earn in 4, elsewhere and when you think that a footballer's career is so short, it's a huge bonus.

All I can say in mitigation for him is that the difference between Italian football and the overall top to bottom quality of the EPL is far greater than it used to be, the heyday of Football Italia is long gone. People underestimate the pace and physicality of British football, when they try to fit a match for players from abroad. He has also mostly played in Serie B, which is another level completely. Doesn't mean he can't adjust in time, but it will require patience and he definitely wasn't what was required at the time with an impatient manager (RVN) and a situation that didn't allow it. At that point you needed someone hardened and ready for that level of football.
