  1. Yep, three spinners bowled already before lunch on the first morning!
  2. If it's someone who will mostly play then I'd go for JJ. Captain's don't have to be transformative and he speaks well with respect for everyone. Most of the rest are too young or commitment issues to the club.
  3. Only county attack, but he has so much time.
  4. Terrible shot from Patel, he looks totally out of form. By contrast, Rehan looks glorious and if he continues on this upwards trajectory, I could see a point where he gets picked for England purely as a batter, because there aren't many around with this range of fluent strokes.
  5. I see none of the promoted clubs are signing unathletic midfielders for £20 million or journeyman players in their 30s, all on high wages. Mostly they are dipping into foreign markets signing guys in their 20s, who have some sell-on value, or don't cripple their clubs financially. Just highlights how awful our transfer business was last year
  6. The seconds did well yesterday. 5 wickets for Wright and 4 wickets for Wood as they bowled Glous out for 110.
  7. Thanks that's a helpful way to look at things - lots of moving parts. In terms of the surface issues, it's common for people with BPD to amplify fairly ordinary matters, that pass everyone else by. My ex rather dramatically said our relationship suffered 'a death by a thousand cuts', but couldn't pinpoint what any of them were. It was just the build-up of feelings that these created.
  8. Edit what I said earlier. Tom Price of Glous has also been signed by Sussex for next season.
  9. I imagine there will be some interest from other counties in Scriven. Some, like Lancashire, are absolutely desperate to strengthen. Gloucestershire have been ransacked, already lost Goodman to Sussex and Zaman Akhter to Essex, while Singh Dale probably off to Lancashire and Price somewhere else. That's most of their bowling attack gone. I imagine Salisbury or Walker might get another year (if they want it), just because we need the depth, especially for the one-day cup.
  10. Bit on the potential Somerset signings in the Cricketer: "Somerset allrounder Ben Green has returned to Leicestershire on loan for the Division Two table-toppers' next two County Championship fixtures. Green has been ever-present for Alfonso Thomas' side in red-ball cricket so far this summer despite being under contract with Somerset. He also played every game during the T20 Blast group stage for his parent county, claiming 16 wickets and averaging 38.2 with the bat. It is understood, though, that he is increasingly likely to join Leicestershire on a permanent basis for next season and beyond. Josh Davey, his Somerset teammate, is also believed to be closing in on a move to Leicestershire. Davey, too, has spent time on loan at Grace Road in the past."
  11. And yet he was pretty good in RVN's first game with a great finish to his goal. Nothing since that though, which suggests his confidence is wafer thin. Needs to move for his own sanity.
  12. I suspect 'The Count' has outstayed his visa and will face deportation. All those years helping pre-schoolers with basic maths means nothing.
  13. I can relate to that. I feel so much less stressed now living apart and I'm allowed to relax. However, still have feelings of failure and shame attached to no longer being this archetypal family man, but I know this is something I need to shake off.
  14. Very much so. The further away in time I am from our separation, the more i realise how much I was holding everything together and how the abuse I was taking was actually unacceptable. Very good good advice offered above.
  15. ZTE got anyone decent we can pick up? Any descendants of Puskas or Kocsis?
  16. Inglis won games on his own getting those 5 or 6 big scores that as CrawlingFox mentions, only Ben Cox got. In hindsight, it may be that Masood is more on the downslope in terms of ability, though I'm sure he is contributing plenty in terms of experience.
  17. Wright is out of contract at the end of the season isn't he. I'd be surprised if we offered him a new contract if we are signing Davey, he's looking like age is finally catching up with him.
  18. Kimber picked up in the Hundred draft so he'll be missing for the one day cup. Not sure he has done enough to warrant this but the shorter the format the more suited his game is to it, so he'd probably do best in the T10.
  19. Bashir out for the rest of the series - needs surgery on his hand. Dawson to come in..?
  20. I thought he would learn, but Kimber seems to keep bowling the wrong bowlers
  21. After yesterday's stand-off over Crawley pulling away at delivery, it's worth recalling this incident between Johnson and KP, where Johnson ends up chucking the ball through the slips.
  22. McKinney may well tour if he gets runs between now and the end of the season. I'd also throw in Emilio Gay as a younger opener with talent who might be good enough in the next year or so.
  23. Needs another 100 pages before he's announced
