I think we’re in for a bit of a humbling over the next few weeks. I can see a string of defeats on the horizon. Sooo not convinced by today’s performance, all the same issues we had last season. I think we will just be too easy to score against, and may concede a lot of poor goals.

Perhaps you’re right. Okoli is the pace and the muscle, Nelson would be my natural choice too. Like you say with a better partner he would look better. I hate Vestergaard his pac will destroy us if we’re not careful. Marti needs to watch that Sheff United game to see what can happen.

He tends to play off the left, but he could play as a CAM if needed. But I agree, we need to move on the players who aren’t going to play.

It’s the central box that’s the issue, not just CM. Okoli and Vesty were poor too. Amazing how we all wanted Okoli, many saying he would be a class above, he looked utterly garbage today. The odd show of strength, but on the ball he is a disaster. And Vesty will just get caught all the time by pace. I’d dread to think what Bristol could do to this team……

Golding will never play first team football at this level. He is shit. Braybrook is also never going to play for us, and Alves isn’t a CM. So none of that will work.

Play Winks and Hamza. It’s probably the best pair we have until we son someone.

He occupies defender with his movement, he just can’t do jack shit with a football.

CM, and the defence as a whole is very concerning. Soumare who I thought would thrive looks ****ing abysmal, the sheer lack of press from the midfield two was very concerning, and Soumare is so susceptible to the transition, in fact, we are as a whole, Thomas looked poor, Justin looked poor, Okoli just stood and watched the ball roll past him when they scored, and can’t pass for shit, Vesty is far too slow and will get caught out multiple times this season. The attacking far too slow, it’s ponderous and lacks aggression, everything we saw against Fiorentina was not there today. I just think this team is there for the taking against any team with pace and half decent finishers. We need a new CM, two new fullbacks, and if Faes goes a new CB to partner who should be Nelson. More concerns than positives today, no matter how you flower up Sheffield Wednesday, they’re a poor team in a state, and we struggled to beat them. Very worried about is defensively, we’re going to have to outscore our opposition until we’ve sorted that defensive box out. That CM and CB partnership is not working.

I agree with Winks. He changed the game when he came on. I thought Ayew looked good, but I’d rather he work on getting the ball out of his feet quicker and get into the box is all, I think he’s actually a decent finisher.

But is it? Would you not rather he get the ball, release it quicker and then move into space and create more movement around him? It would make our attack far more dynamic. Too many times today it slowed down because the ball wasn’t being released quick enough. Not saying he had a bad game, just that there’s things I wish he did a bit quicker.

There’s holding on to it, to bring other into play, and then holding on for it for too long. He needs to release it quicker than he is.

Thought Ayew was poor to be honest. He holds on to the ball for far too long. Numerous times he was too busy trying to battle when he could get the ball out to the wide men much quicker. That it likely to cause us issues going forward.

Not convinced at all. Poor performance on the whole, any team with pace in the transition is going to kill us. Too slow, and not enough effort. Barely able to beat a team on its arse and down to ten men.

What concerns me, is that spine is so slow. From what I’ve seen this weekend, 90% of football in this league is transitional. They purposely play on the shoulder to expose slow defences, it completely destroyed Sheffield United yesterday, no matter how good you are in possession, simple moves can completely undo you with a lack of pace.

I was about to defend Soumare to @J.Lisemore But the point he raised about not tracking runners, is now valid as Vesty is playing. Because it now leaves us with a major weakness. Our attack should be good enough to win the game, but that defence is there for the taking with Vesty in it.

First major mistake from Marti. Vesty can’t play.

Plus he can’t get changed in the main changing room.

Soumare will piss this league. I don’t think some people realise how bad this league is.
