I agree, I made this point in the Sheff weds thread, yes we’ve got some players we don’t like, but my point is how does booing individual players help the younger players? Imagine how this could impact the likes of Nelson, Monga and Page? Imagine if eventually Monga stops taking people on through fear of being criticised? Or Nelson starts carrying on like that first half? Booing whereas, it may be a cathartic release, I don’t think is remotely productive… and I’m not saying this because I’m a fan of Faes, I’m saying this because as a whole we become part of the cultural problem. There’s nothing wrong with taking the frustrations out on the board because this is their fault. Yes some players have contributed to their demise, but rather than boo them, don’t clap them…. Don’t celebrate the goal, but booing can have a wider impact on the players we actually like. We need to try and create a positive atmosphere when the whistle is blown, because ultimately, it is us who suffer, we’re paying out money, why sit there and make it even more toxic?

Agreed. Ability isn’t an issue. On paper, we’ve got one of the strongest teams in the league. But as Clough said, football isn’t played on paper. The problem we’ve got is cultural. We are toxic, and that just won’t change until King Power are gone, and we have competent owners. Reading, and Sheffield Wednesday should act as a warning sign for all of us, we need them out, it’s verging on no return already…..

He was a standout on Oxfords side last season, so how can he not be ready? I think he just had a bad day, but it’s no coincidence he drastically improved when Winks came on. It’s that midfield, Soumare and Skipp offer nothing at all, and they present a huge weakness, they expose those centre back two.

He’s being asked to do a different role here than he was at Sheffield Utd. Here Martin wants him to advance and join the attack, it means there’s acres of grass for him to have to defend behind him. Facing up, Hamza is fine, 1v1 he rarely gets beaten, but if you’re asking him to defend the space in behind him, he can’t do it, positionally he’s always recovering, and then makes rash decisions. If he’s playing at RB he needs to invert into a CDM. Because then he can defend across a specific area. What he is being asked to do now is favouring all of his weaknesses.

Agreed. I’m loathed to put Faes and Vestergaard in, I really am. But Okoli looked ropey and Nelson didn’t have a good day last night. That box in the centre of the pitch is a major issue. It’s where we are the weakest and it’s a nightmare situation because we will end up conceding so many poor goals. There’s a remarkable lack of fight. Part of me just wants to persevere with Nelson and Okoli and hope they form a good relationship.

100% Riccy has proven at this level he is class on that role.

This won’t change until the infection is drawn out of the club. It’s an environment created by Top, he’s allowed the players to have too much power and created an un competitive , relaxed, pally environment. As well as ****ing up the finances. Nothing will change and we will continue to decline until King Power have sold the club, and there’s a complete reset.

It was a tough night all round, lots of changes, and it was Alves, Monga and Page’s full debut…. Which we need to remember, they’re not seasoned pro’s they’re all still young. Monga is a special talent who’s a rarity, and Page looks extremely composed for a young lad. Will suffered a near career ending injury at a young age, and has had a huge psychological hurdle to overcome. I won’t be singling any of the young lads out, they’re just stuck in a rotten system. Those who need criticising seat in the corporate areas.

Surely he gives Aluko a chance over Hamza? Or he needs to invert Hamza and push someone else higher up the pitch. As you say his system is hampered by personnel at the moment.

It’s not his fault, he’s inherited a squad largely on the decline, with owners who are petrified of PSR. No one is coming in, and we’re likely to lose more players. Make no mistake about it, this team is on the slide. It’s shades of the relegation team under Rodgers.

Another poor showing, and a very concerning one. I know some are quick to state it’s only game two, however, that is a team in a rot, with no confidence, no self belief and no mental resilience. We’re carrying a squad largely of players who either want away, or have burned their bridges here. This isn’t conducive to a successful team. This is a squad on the slide in free fall. Unless we can muster up some miracles with the cheque book, it’s likely we will struggle to stay up. Far too many mistakes in the team, we’re weak through the spine and have no fight.

We will be lucky. We’re going down.
