You can, how long it would last is another thing though.

Celtic beats them hands down at that, the anfield atmosphere lasted through the 60's, then (like most places) it started to decline to what it is now a shadow of its former self. I wonder what all these tourists think when they finally get to go to a game, it must be completely underwhelming.

They came so close to 3...ipswich should be safe now, thrown so many points away.

Another absolute belter of a game north of the border.

Its true and I'm guilty of this, at least we have the UFS who have done something, just a pity the numbers never really grew. Lots of other english clubs have nothing at all. So I think you're right in some respects, the vast majority of fans in england either don't care about the atmosphere or don't want to do anything about it. I was sure safe standing was going to be a game changer in england, its made little to no difference. There's probably more standing at top flight games than ever before and the atmopshere has never been worse.

Yet in America, they have terraces, cheap tickets, whole ends devoted to supporter groups, legal pyro....

I notice the ex luvies club Salford are on some run after a dissapointing start they have won 7 out of their last 8 league games. Up to 2nd. -
Modern football...in england anyway.

I'd rate Ibrox as the best stadium in the UK....pains me to say that, but i think it is.

Is there some regulation that would stop the leicester city womens team playing there? Seems a perfect sized stadium to host them rather than having 3,000 in a 30,000+ stadium.
-
Such a shame the leicester road ground is so empty, such potential with a stadium like that.

Didnt work out too well for him. -
People have been saying this for 20 years yet all signs are its never been healthier.

And then price them out if we go up.

Given in scotland you can rip up seats light flares throw bottles at players and theres rarely ever a stadium ban for anyone, makes me think they aint gonna ban 10,000 fans for singing songs.

I love watching scottish games, people keep on about the standard but give me a poorer standard with end to end football, a distinct lack of pocession football, vivacious crowds over what we had anyday..but hey thats just me, each to their own.

And they're doing a great job. Its quite astonishing how things have changed. Average fan in the stretford end in the 60's was 17. By the 2000's it was 40+. Compare this to the likes of germany. Most supporter groups have a senior membership, which you have to go in if you're 35+...thats right 35+. Supporter groups that have rep at board level make sure no more than 50% of season tickets get sold, because it will cause an older fan base in the future. Thats why the average fan in the supporter clubs is 20 in germany. I don't think the premier leage now publish the average age (i wonder why) but it was 42 a decade ago, doubt its gone down any.

Depends who it is. These are 2 crackers.

Rangers Celtic, followed by the Dundee derby. Lovely jubbly.

I can only assume the less lads/20 year old's the more families/corporate fans they can get to fill their seats. I very much doubt they're concerned about possible trouble these 'types' of fans could create because lets face it there isn't any these days, so there has to be a reason, and money is usually the answer.

I agree not every scotland game is bouncing, of course not theres not a league in the world where it is. The point i was trying to make is there league was as bad as ours but over just a few years its been transformed. An idea of whats possible. I remember not too long ago the old firm matches had pretty much all the fans sitting down...now rangers and celtic games have the whole stadium standing, this started when the UB and GB started to influence the rest of the fans inside the stadium. Now there are large numbers of ultra groups in the scottish leagues they have transformed the atmospheres at the clubs. They have practically the same rules and regulations as us (some actually stricter than ours) but have managed to create change. And I dont see a big ultra scene anywhere in England. They are increasing the away support for the OF games, so it should be even better. But thats a good example of how its changed in scotland. Imagine a big derby game in england with no away fans it would be pretty dead yet the OF games were still bouncing.

Great result for Forest too.

Decent...compared to what though? The premier league? Thats not much of a compliment. Its dire everywhere in England apart from the odd big derby, even then its pretty lame. Of course england was only really a hotbed in the 50's-70's then it was in a slow decline. Its never been as bad as it is now. That's why the scene in scotland is so appealing. It just shows what can be done. How things can change and change quickly. But there's no sign it will get better in england, fans don't seem to care, authorities hate the idea, clubs only want families and tourists because they equal money. So we'll carry on discussing how bad it is year after year.
