Cheers folks - great shouts. Much appreciated. Can't do 'Up' though. A, it's too long and B, I don't want to cry in front of people. Great call though.

You lot can help me. Name me films with brilliant 2/3 minute openings (ideally including titles). Nothing too SFX heavy, just ones that set a mood, intrigue the audience, introduce us to the world of the characters and basically make you want to watch the rest of the film! Any help much appreciated.

Got M (Masters of Cinema) for Xmas. Anyone seen it? Also got 1984 which i've not seen before, and Spinal Tap which I'm ashamed to say i've not watched.

Bad Santa tonight on C5, very good Xmas film.

Watched LA COnfidential for the 1st time tonight. What a film!

One Day. Decent book, decent film. Quite rushed at the start, lacks some of the charm of the book but improves throughout and contains a few really nice moments. Hathaway better than I expected, but the accent is not consistent! 6.5/10

Just read that. Thought it was OK, got better as it went. Some people love it but I wouldn't go that far. Saw the film yesterday. Decent, bit rushed, strange casting, but better than I anticipated.

Love Bill Bryson!! Down Under probably my fave! Just finished One Day. Not bad. Watching the film tomorrow, not expecting much.
