Maybe so. Just think there must be some opportunity to progress / challenge otherwise what’s the point. -

I agree with you in many respects, but finding gems from the youth system or lower leagues and selling them on for large profits and then proceeds being reinvested is an in exact science and difficult to sustain. Particularly if you haven’t got best in class recruitment and coaches. I think there should be a degree of flexibility that allows owners with significant wealth to invest in their squad to make European competitions and compete in multiple competitions. The alternative is that the usual suspects continue to dominate as they have mostly done over the years. That said I think some of the noise is a deflection tactic, particularly because we have too often failed in the transfer market and are suffering for it. -
Totally agree. The drop off from the likes of Macia to Congerton was massive.
-
given his record, not sure anyone can credibly see him being part of the solution. We will need a best of class operator to steady the ship / let alone help us advance.
-
Agree the higher ups carry the can, but given how much they wanted BR I can see why they brought him in when BR asked for him. By the time they got rid, BR's star was already on the decline and the damage was done.

Not the same of course, but didn't Man City successfully reduce penalties from UEFA by going to CAS? Financially, King Power can absorb potential financial penalties but we will struggle with an embargo and point deduction. I full expect EPL load any penalty decision now based on our challenge. -
Exactly. They moved heaven and earth for BR and left it too late to act.

I don’t think the likes of Evans, Youri and Madders were embarrassed, sadly. They had been ready to move long before they did. -

I don’t think Top is immune from criticism but, I think he has been let down by those supposed to be experts in their field. Top isn’t in day to day control but he is ultimately accountable and I think he hasn’t been prepared to be ruthless when needed / making changes when needed. That has to happen if we are to move forward stronger. -
Think you are correct. Cost price of transfers is included on the balance sheet and amortised, I am not sure that an arbitrary value is applied to youth players but could be wrong.
-
The sad reality is whenever in recent times we have paid enlarged fees to push us on (see Slimani, Daka, Soumare) it hasn’t worked, they haven’t pushed us on.That’s in a football sense, up the table, deeper in cup competitions or in terms of increased financial rewards and sadly we haven’t been able to sell them either and we have been burned for it. whatever happens next a root and branch review (and change) in the football leadership role (DofF) is a must.

We are going to have to do better at promoting from the youth ranks that is clear….and be patient.

It is seems a bit bizarre they (EPL/EFL) do it now, at the business end of the season - when it potentially undermines the league competition. That said there are not many of us who can say we are that surprised we are in this mess, especially when the leadership of the football finances side of the business has been a car wreck for a good while. -

Given our luck, probably. -

Provocative if true and will get baked into points deduction. -
Agree we would want / need to ensure any bid worked for us. Let’s hope we can do enough.
-
Not going up would be a disaster and mean we start from scratch again (manager, playing squad). I would add Winks to the potential list of sales - any playing asset that could potentially generate large cash figures would have to be considered.

Assuming we are promoted, with a large rebuild and potential points deduction I would be happy finishing above 17th. We will have to rebuild gradually. -

Comfort on the ball and pace are the ideal but I don’t know many players that do both we could get in on modest fee and wages. don’t get me wrong if we could upgrade then I am all for it. -

Call the position what you like. Progressive , ball playing central defender. all I am saying is Enzo appears to rate him (at least ahead of his peers) and we may lack the funds to upgrade him in the summer. Especially given we may need maybe ten players. -

I am just doubting how much of a transfer budget there will be to replace all the players out of contract or below the standard. -

He may be cheapest / least worst option in quarterback role if promoted. A rapid centre back who complements him and Ben Nelson is maybe more important. -
I also think 343 could work for us but, Enzo has shown little sign he is willing to change. Hopefully Ricky P will be back after the break.
-
Unfortunately he appears a classic convert 1 in 4 chances player which isn’t good enough, no matter how good a bloke he is / and his effort / willingness to press. Is Cannon the answer - I don’t know - but I think he has showed more and probably deserves a run when and if Vardy isn’t available
