My guess is we are weighing up which positions are best to sign someone on a perm and which will be loans, maybe we’ve struggled to get permanent deals done for strikers and CAMs

Agree with this, best case scenario it’s going to be at least one loan from those three positions. We need Premier League level ability to get goals and assists from all 3 of those players assuming we keep up with the attacking LB thing cooper was trying in pre season. All three will be expensive, it’ll be a minimum of one loan you’d think, in one of the two forward spots for sure. Best case scenario would be permanent LB and CAM with striker on loan I reckon, given current squad composition. Maybe one perm and two loans with an option/obligation on survival.

If he was called Oliviér Skĩpp and played for a South American team I suspect the reaction would be quite different on here

Yh that would not be ideal, if close to £10m it’s a decent deal imo.

Only reason I can think for it being more is that he’s quite a bit younger. But less top level experience, Winks had played CL, more games in Prem, for England, as well as loans in Serie A. I put his profile above Skipp, but not by a big margin.

He is immediately into best our starting XI alongside Winks I would imagine, is better than the rest of those names, not entirely sure why we extended Ndidi, but we did. Still think this position is low priority since we already have bodies there, but a better partner for Winks is needed. I’d probably have gone for more of a DLP type, but he is available and will do well for us in the Championship.

Skipp and Winks will be extremely solid for promotion bid next season, don’t mind this at all

We definitely do want another DM as discussed above, but I’d have it below a striker, a creative midfielder and maybe an attacking left back/pacey left sided CB on the priority list
