I’ve suddenly gone off Corberan

I don’t know about anyone else but I fully expect to go straight back down after an inevitable and significant points deduction, and inability to spend. We could easily start this season on negative points, with a squad worse than we had in the championship, and no ability to add quality players, whilst trying to adapt to another new manager.

Didn’t Sarri want to stay in Italy to be close to his elderly mother? Don’t think that has changed, no news she passed away, if so I doubt he is coming to England for work at all. EDIT/ I’m blind, his mother sadly passed away around a month ago, so possibly there is something in the rumour…

We should appoint someone who can get us out of the championship again even if faced with a points deduction and transfer embargo… IMO, Corberan is a good option in either league. Even though Copper doesn’t inspire me, I can see it.

Yeah I wrote this before the Percy article came out, at the time he was 3/1 with De Zerbi favourite at evens. We will get another possession obsessed coach no doubt. Relegation is by a distance the most likely outcome as things stand. Sneaky feeling we will avoid it despite a points deduction, which is likely to be at least what Everton got, probably more. Maybe about 8 points? That guesstimate has as much methodology behind it as the PL points deduction decisions to date.
