In fairness, his Boro side were overachieving and then he was replaced with, in my opinion, the current best coach outside the premier league. So yes, they did technically play better without him, but he did absolutely fine there. He won’t drop to league 1 though.

Yes easily - but they’re unfit and tactically unprepared - again. On paper (and yes, I appreciate football is way more than that), this is the strongest squad in the league. However, for Martins tactics to be successful it needs really comfortable key players at GK, CB and DM. We do not have these at all. If we played pretty basic attacking football with an urgency on ball recovery, and fitness to back it up, we’d be the strongest team in the division and any message other than that massively lets the manager off the hook.

Challinor is the obvious standout candidate underneath that - Robbie Keane would be a top choice but likely unobtainable then for me it’s Damien Duff, followed by Fuchs

Fully agree on this Make no mistake this is a huge match, we could easily play through these, show better finishing and knock 5 past them. similarly, a loss to an animated Robbie Savage playing direct front foot football could be the final straw to the season turning toxic.

Not sure if anybody on here listens to the football boardroom podcast, but Christian Purslow made a great suggestion in that Man City would be wise to accept relegation and a huge fine, which the PL itself divvies out to all affected clubs (Which is all PL clubs during that time, with more going to those that missed out on European football, titles etc). This would wrap the whole thing up quickly, and stop an absolute raft of legal fees going Man City's way.
