  1. Didn't the EFL say we needed to propose a business plan last season and we pretty much cried outrage at the accusation we were going to breach? The club is rotten with incompetence
  2. Backup to both Ricardo as the inverted full back and Skipp as the "shuttler". He will be limited but fine, have 2 or 3 stinkers (Bristol City away) and 1 absolute worldie (West Brom at home)
  3. He's the natural happy medium between Martin idealism and Dyche pragmatism. Good for this season and next. Naturally, we won't go near him
  4. To me, the issues can be summarised down to: 1) an owner who picks us up and drops us as and when he wants, seemingly flip flopping between being hands on with manager appointments, and then completely absent when the going gets tough. 2) this then leads to an inadequate director of football with way too much on his portfolio, having to try and effectively manage the club day to day, which he's incapable of doing. If we had the correct infrastructure around either Top or Rudkin, we could be okay, but ultimately too much falls onto shoulders of incompetence.
  5. Bloody love Abdul. If he can hit his level again he should easily be bagging double figures in both goals and assists.
  6. I'd take Ancelotti here instead of Martin. But not if it means Balague is back sniffing around
  7. Wouldn't shock me if Mads has no interest this summer.
  8. Yeah in all in on him now, still think he's a little raw in build up but he's a wonderfully calm finisher
  9. Don't expect his full backs to play like Enzo had them. One will invert, yes, and Ricardo is perfect for this (probably Hamza as backup to him), but the other full back will get forward and be a threat. Protection will come from a shuttling midfielder (Skipp). Alfie Doughty could suit that attacking full back role really nicely
  10. Good, and he does seem like he has a good attitude. However, the idea of him playing it out from the back as Martin will demand gives me anxiety.
  11. Huge chance Bilal and maybe Soumare/Faes are the only ones to leave and we have a squad massively similar to the one under Enzo
  12. Stolaryczyk New GK (Freddie Woodman) Ricardo Coulibaly New LB (Alfie Doughty) Thomas Coady Nelson Vestegaard New CB (Harry Darling) Winks Skipp New CM (Lennon Miller) Hamza Braybrooke Fatawu Monga Mavididi McAteer New AM. (Toni Fruk) Alves New CF New CF Jake Evans Sell Hermansen Faes Souttar JJ Kristiansen Soumare Ndidi Daka Ayew Bobby Decordova Reid Bilal El Khannouss Loan out Caleb Okoli Fruk for attacking midfielder might be ambitious, I like Jamie Donley on loan from Spurs, and I'm big on Luciano Valente from Groningen. Striker is the tough one, Kvistgaarden would be perfect but likely beyond our reach. Kyogo would be great but maybe again, too ambitious.
  13. Williamson and Martin will definitely be aligned on philosophy. Williamsons Gateshead side played incredible football for their level, and his MK Dons side did well too, seemed a baffling move when he left them for Carlisle, one I imagine was to do with being closer to family, and just never worked out. He's definitely not there to compliment Martin, he's there to reinforce his ideas. But he's a good coach, a good hire.
  14. You, and others, are right to point that out. But its simple, he's walking into a team that can play his style of football but also has a huge amount of flair on the wings. If he can't see that and adapt his play accordingly he will never succeed as a coach. If he can, it's as good a group of players that he could hope to walk into. This is a huge job for Russell Martins career
  15. This is the fascinating unknown to me. He may be forced to change how he's played his wingers in the past
  16. I worry he becomes the lightning rod for frustrations that should be aimed at Rudkin and Top. Sounds like that's already happened with chants and Bournemouth. Would I appoint him? No. But back him and voice frustrations at the board
  17. This will be super interesting, Enzo actually managed the crowd pretty well last season. Focused on the UFS whilst making it clear he wouldn't change. I worry RM gets too emotional post match and will struggle to fix divisions
  18. Even just hearing Claudio gave me goosebumps, Bocelli just sends me every time. It's grim now, but **** we experienced something didn't we. Gaz is a legend too
  19. Obtainable? I've seen clips where he looks decent but not sure of his link up.
  20. As its Martin, a LB that tucks in to midfield, a creative technical attacking midfielder and a Centre forward who presses well and drops deep
  21. I'll say this: Russell Martin will never get a better chance to prove his doubters wrong than this Leicester City side. It's a side largely still kept over from Enzo, and therefore has a base knowledge of a similar style of football (far more than Southampton did when he walked through the door). It's a similar morale than he turned around at Southampton, who had a similarly rotten year to us in the PL before he went in. Personally, if he can return from injury to a similar standard, I believe he has the best player in the league in Abdul Fatawu. Who should be getting double digits for both goals and assists for a possession based side. He also had Mavididi on the other side who should relish the one-two line breaking passes that Martins best football gives. However. I'm concerned Martin has always distrusts flair players, we have a 4 or 5 in the squad but he's never really had a success story in developing a player of that ilk. He will need to recruit a number 10 and a centre forward that suits his style to have any chance of success. I think we easily get playoffs under him, even with a points deduction...but it would take a miracle for us to stay in the Premier League under him, especially with our recent transfer activity
  22. Will preface this with, I have huge concerns over Martin, and he isn't the right choice. However, the amount of shit on here is ridiculous. "Southampton had a better side than us last season". Being the main one. If Enzo-ball frustrated people, then Martin will drive people insane but he's going to be the manager and we can either go into it moaning our tit's off, or actually give the guy a chance. I do i think he will surprise? No. But there are plenty of coaches who evolve over time and I pray he will be doing this now.
  23. I mean, Soumare and Ayew don't move anyway so there's hardly a numbers advantage
  24. Basically relying that one of the most stubborn men in football has learnt lessons from his disaster this season. He will be fine next year but long term it's a stupid hire.
  25. Genuinely think the bench would probably beat the starting XI, even with a 2 man disadvantage
