  1. Feel for Kel. Striker's are massive confidence players and his lack of game time showed there. Really positive performances from Big Dan, Thomas, and Mendy. Sadly too many changes cost us the game.
  2. Absolutely brilliant goal. Let's go on and win this now.
  3. Have to agree with this. For me that's where Klopp and Liverpool show their class. Against the lesser sides rather than play a weakened side they race out of the blocks get themselves a healthy lead then retain possession to conserve energy. We need to be smarter if we're going to fulfil our potential.
  4. It'll be interesting to see if he sticks around the club when he retires. I appreciate his family is up in the North West but get the impression he has a deep connection with the club. I was thinking about the helicopter tradegy the other day and how that impacted Kasper on a personal level given that he seemed to have a close relationship with Vichai and the fact that he witnessed the incident and the immediate aftermath. Psychologically that must be with him everyday. I'd love him to be involved long term but have a feeling that he'll disappear up to the North West and we'll occasionally see him for the odd guest appearance.
  5. Great link up play between Perez and Vardy.
  6. That Pogba sub has changed the game. They've been overrunning us in midfield. Needed a change to counter but it's been too slow coming. Tielemans at fault for the goal, completely lost his man and was too slow tracking back. So frustrating as it's been a very even game.
  7. Got to admit I really like the guy. After all he's been through with us you never hear him moan and he always seems to play with a smile on his face. Add to that the fact that he's actually a pretty decent player and what's not to like.
  8. But you have to work with the facts surely. There's no evidence whatsoever that the vaccine is not effective at containing this strain. Even if it was proven, as mentioned in my last post the mode of action of all the vaccines in development show good efficacy so we know how to contain the virus regardless of its genetic make-up. As we saw with the very first outbreak of Covid 19 in China, the virus was genetically profiled within 48 hours so we can profile it very quickly. Once you have this data the vaccine can then be adapted so there is light at the end of the tunnel.
  9. Both the science and the data so far show there's no evidence that the vaccine isn't effective with this strain so it's reckless to speculate until the facts suggest otherwise. Even in a hypothetical situation where the vaccine is rendered ineffective against this strain, existing stocks can be reserved for those with the previous mutations of the virus and the vaccine can easily be modified as per the flu vaccine to be tailored specifically to the genetic make up the virus dna. The mode of action will remain the same so they'll be no need for new trials etc. The only challenge will be a very very short period of time required to culture the samples required to manufacture the vaccine at scale. Assuming the Oxford/AZ vaccine is approved soon, we'll be in a very strong position to make significant in roads to containing this virus. The risk is in the immediate term and people need to be more disciplined and take responsibility. Unfortunately we live in a society of self entitlement where it's easier and deemed acceptable to point the finger elsewhere by blaming others rather than accept that we're all individually accountable for our own actions. As a collective we've failed in our duty as citizens to make the necessary sacrifices to prevent passing of the virus on to one another.
  10. Sorry @UniFox21 but did you actually read the article? It states that he was assessed by an independent Neurologist who specialises in Sports related Concussion. There's absolutely no evidence whatsoever to back up Vertonghen's claims - quite the opposite in fact - as the medics that assessed him by his own admission ruled it out. Bear in mind he'll have had all the necessary scans at the appropriate time to determine any damage/risk and that the medics in question will not only be governed by their own association guidelines but also the protocols of affiliates such as Fifa, Uefa, PL, EFL, FA, etc. Add in the fact that employment laws in this country place a great deal of emphasis on employers maintaining a duty of care towards their employees, something doesn't add up. To me this article comes across as the player using this injury as a suitable excuse to cover for his dip in performance. It's a very serious subject and one that needs addressing at every level of the game right from children playing in the street to the most elite. More needs to be done make no mistake however in this instance I'm not convinced that the facts are being reported accurately.
  11. The issue at Arsenal is Kroenke. He thinks that just owning a club of Arsenal's stature is an automatic cash cow and doesn't need investment as they'll always be what they've always been ignoring the fact that everyone around them is continuously moving forward. It's a big problem for the club as so long as he's making money he doesn't care where they sit in the league and sees it as a prized asset that he doesn't want to let go. I'd be really frustrated if I was an Arsenal fan as they're having to watch their club go backwards and there's nothing that they can do.
  12. Anyone else think that the pitch didn't look up to its usual standards last night? I thought it appeared to be cutting up quite a bit. Don't recall seeing it like for a long while.
  13. Fantastic first half performance followed by a very professional second half. That Maddison second was almost an exact replica of Mahrez' goal (albeit at the opposite end) against Spurs in the title winning season. Truly a thing of beauty.
  14. Didn't Rodgers role out a similar defensive formation against Brighton at home last season? I fully expect a better result today but just find it a really odd approach given that Brighton offer very little from an attacking point of view.
  15. I think that you've misunderstood me. How many times in our history have we had a group of players as talented as this? Do you honestly believe that this team aren't capable of winning a cup? Even a team featuring Robbie Savage managed to achieve that for us. If this generation fail to win anything we'll look back in years to come and view it as a missed opportunity.
  16. I hope these words do come back to bite me on the backside but this group of players with this manager won't win anything of note. They lack the mental capacity to dig in deep when it's needed which is a real shame because they're probably some of the most talented players we've ever had and one of the most capable squads in the league but they need to realise that talent only gets you so far. There's too many passengers in this team when they're not at it. Maddison and Evans of late look like they're already on the bus with Ole at the wheel. Brendan has to take a lot of responsibility for tonight's performance. He set us up way too defensive against a very poor team and was far too slow in making the changes. He needed to change tact immediately after they scored the second but was too cautious. I felt for Vardy today, looked very isolated against a side that you'd expect him to have a field day against. This isn't a call for Pearson to return but can you imagine his reaction to performance like that! What frustrates me currently is that our form feels all too predictable. We're either all or nothing, something which is very telling by the lack of draws. We simply don't have the ability to grind out results. Whether that's a tactical or mental failure is hard to say but one way or another it needs addressing.
  17. Leon Crncic, Casino Jimmy, Hossein Kaebi, and Adrien Silva
  18. I would have thought that having 4000 fans inside a stadium isn't sufficient enough to cover the operating costs so suspect few will open their doors in Tier 1. I'd be amazed if any Tier 2s allowed fans back in as it seems a pointless exercise. Also not sure how the PL will manage this. Surely teams in Tier 3 will kick up a fuss if fans aren't allowed in their grounds but opposition in lower tiers are. Could make a big difference to those teams down near the bottom of the league and poses an unfair advantage both in terms of on pitch performance and commercial revenue.
  19. I thought it was obvious, the angle of his run up was awful. Rarely do you see a player score a penalty with that approach. I was expecting him to sky it, although I didn't think he'd slip in the process. For once I agreed with Murphy, I have no idea why player's don't just put their boot through the ball when taking a penalty. You wouldn't see a striker trying to be a fancy dan if the ball came to him in that position from open play so I really don't understand what changes a person's mind set when it's a dead ball.
  20. Good point, but from the survey that came out last year there's only one direction in which ticket prices are headed with the new stand and using that as an indicator it won't by a small percentage either. I'd be amazed if prices drop.
  21. I think there's virtually zero chance of any changes to the badge in the immediate future given the level of branding and associated investment at the new training ground which heavily features the current badge.
