Russell Martin - Confirmed as First Team Manager
ian__marshall replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Looking at the captain's he's selected so far I'd say he's trying to test some of the senior players to get a feel for whether they are committed to the cause. I suspect in one-to-one discussions they've indicated they are happy to stay and give their all, but maybe feedback internally has been less positive/inconclusive. The only way you truly find out someone's character is to see how they respond when they have to take responsibility for a situation. Looking at the 1st half team last night, Faes and Choudhary were the most senior players, so they become the obvious choices, and if I were Martin I'd be wanting to test them ahead of the season to suss them out rather than get into competitive games and experiment when there are points at stake. Not a fan of Faes at all, in fact from a footballing perspective I think he's useless. That said, he should be capable of playing relatively well at this level. As crap as he is, I can't imagine any player plays as many games as he has for Belgium and struggles in League 1. I might be proven wrong, and it genuinely wouldn't surprise me, but gut instinct tells me he'll at least be OK this season if he has to stay (not that I want him to). -
Why are they selling it on a market stall in the City Centre but not the club shop?!? Considering we need every penny we can lay our hands on we really aren't very good at maximising our revenue.
-
Will probably buy it as its an upgrade of some of our recent kits, but both the gold and the patterned background do spoil this shirt a bit for me. White stripes and no pattern, and this would have been immense.
-
I appreciate they're only friendlies but surprised there's no Radio Leicester coverage. Surely the club aren't that desperate to drive people to their own streams 🤯.
-
No Winks, Vesty, Victor in the squads. Hopefully an indicator that their future's lie away from the club.

What time does the stream start on YouTube?

Russell Martin - Confirmed as First Team Manager
ian__marshall replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
No idea how you navigate to it in the app as I can't find a link. From what I can see, if you click on the link to the video of 'Catching Up With Young Foxes' it shows as 'Pre-Season: Week One Recap' in the upcoming videos section below the main video. -
No way he plays 50% of their games. He'll play 5, they'll realise he's crap then bench him for the rest of the season. Why can't we insist on obligation clauses. Everyone sees to manage it with us. [Note: Maybe I've answered my own question there]

Just been watching the recap of the 1st week of pre-season and I'll give him his dues, looks like Russ is putting them through their paces. I've been really critical of the teams fitness for a long while, but seeing the work they are putting in currently is giving me a lot of confidence that for once we won't be blowing out of our arses after 60 minutes. In fact, I'd say we may well end up being one of the fittest sides in the league. -
What's the odds on this becoming free to STHs in a few days after a bit of backlash given no reduction in ST prices? The sceptic in me thinks this is a ploy to put a value on a service that every other season has been free, and suddenly make it appear to be a 'value add' for STHs spinning it into a positive. After all, we have people who think the clubs leadership walk on water because they provide a free stale doughnut once a season. Imagine how amazed these deluded souls will be when they are offered free access to pre-season streams worth £20!

What Happened Next: Foxes Trust End Of Season Survey
ian__marshall replied to Foxes_Trust's topic in Leicester City Forum
Disappointing on many levels. The club really aren't taking the feedback seriously, and just conducting an appeasement exercise. @Foxes_Trust - Were you aware that the meeting was only involving Jim and Anthony? If so, may I please kindly ask why the meeting was not declined by yourselves? I know you are genuinely doing your best and I'm sincerely thankful for the time, dedication, and effort you invest in trying to improve the situation, but quite frankly your time is way more valuable than having the club roll out the same individuals time and again who are not in the position to effect change. Jim doesn't have the authority, and despite Anthony's seniority the responsibility for the changes called for, do not sit within the scope of his role. Whilst I appreciate that you are trying to build bridges, I'd strongly encourage you be more assertive, as the perception at the moment is one that seems to favour a softly softly approach which is not too dissimilar to the organisation that went before. That's a shame, as unlike your predecessors you are clearly trying, however the one area I'd suggest requires development is having a ruthless operator amongst the ranks who isn't afraid to put noses out of joint and dictate the terms upon which you wish to engage with the club. After all, no meaningful relationship is ever built on a single party dictating the terms. Apologies, I'm not trying to be overly critical, but just feel at the moment all your efforts (which are great by the way) are not being truly considered by the club, and they seem to hide behind excuses as to why your suggestions either aren't feasible or require further consultation with other stakeholders before they can be acted on. -
Would like to see that foul again in the build up to the 3rd. If that had been the other way round, they'd be scrutinising that for 10 minutes.

Been wanting a long sleeved version since the Puma days. One finally arrives and they put a massive gap between the stripes for some crappy sponsor that if your purchase it without makes the top look very odd 😒. Will have to get the short sleeved, but gutted they haven't thought about this. Edit: Just noticed the sleeves on the long sleeved version aren't even continuous and are just stitched on externsions 😂. Who the f*ck thought, 'yeah, that looks good'?

Let's save everyone time and effort and highlight that it's a false story. Welcome to the internet and the world of misinformation.

Fascinating, thank you for sharing.

Premier League 2026/2027 Season
ian__marshall replied to StanSP's topic in General Football and Sport
Ridiculous fee for Anderson. He's OK, but that fee is obscene. Why on earth Man City are paying that much I have no idea. He's decent, but massively overrated in my opinion and nowhere near world class. Wharton is a far better player in my view. To top it off, my neighbour is his uncle so no doubt will have him banging on about this move next time I see him whilst I'm cutting the hedges 😕 -
Fascinating reading. You and @leicsmac blow my mind with some of the things you discuss. Sorry to ask, but how do you know/learn this stuff? Honestly, I wouldn't even know where to start in terms of researching these topics let alone understanding them. Thanks for sharing 🏆

I hope we don't. Would much prefer we crash out as quickly as possible. Pointless competition for a club of our size and we can do without the extra games.

2026/27 Fixture Release - 25th June, 12pm BST
ian__marshall replied to StanSP's topic in Leicester City Forum
Decent set of fixtures. Over to you now Russell. -
So is the 2nd. Full backs are all over the place.

What stops them taking a few weeks off with the family at the end of April? Not exactly like they are going to be holidaying in Skegness, so weather certainly isn't a factor. Considering their main roles are centred around planning and performance to succeed during the season ahead, I'd say the football off season is the time they should be getting down to business.
-
Apart for the silence and lack of action this year I can't say definitively whether they are or aren't away, however conversely there is no evidence of any action happening in the background to suggest otherwise. Additionally, we have seen evidence in the past of certain key figures either sat by a pool or playing polo at a time when their focus should have been on the job in hand, so it's not exactly a stretch to draw conclusions as to why it's taking so long to conclude a process virtually every other side seems to be able to complete within a maximum of a few weeks.
-
Agreed, I find it grossly negligent that we hear rumblings of key figures being away from the building year after year around this time, with the justification that people need to take time away. It's farcical. As an example, you wouldn't expect emergency service workers to routinely take time off over weekends or refuse night shifts. It comes with the responsibilities of the job. The key figures at the club are paid handsomely to make sacrifices, why can't they simply take a break in the 2 week window immediately after the campaign ends, so that everyone is back ready to go again from mid May? The planning is horrendous. Yet again whoever comes in is going to have a huge job to do, not only in terms of clearing up the mess, but even in terms of player conditioning. I fear once more we'll be entering the season with a group of players who are simply not up to speed physically and will not be able to compete at the required levels both in game and over the course of the season.

Sorry to hear this. I suffered hugely from Panic Attacks a long while ago so can sympathise as they are awful. Not sure on your circumstances but if you're not on medication for your symptoms I'd suggest speaking with your GP and see what they suggest. I've been on meds for years and it keeps me on a level and very stable. If you can afford it (even for a very short period) I'd also suggest seeing a Clinical Psychologist privately. Very expensive, but will hugely help change your perspective on the way you think about situations and provide you with coping mechanisms. Without wanting to state the obvious, I'd also jack in the habit of turning to alcohol. Can't stress enough how much this will be fueling your panic attacks. I enjoy the occasional social drink, but have come to realise as I've aged that alcohol just isn't for me. As great as I feel in the moment, I now recognise that for me the negative effects afterwards massively outweigh the enjoyment. I was always a binge drinker so not dependent on alcohol in anyway, however I wish I'd have a) had the balls to understand this earlier in my life and not get drawn into heavy social drinking, and b) listened more to my body when it was telling me not to do it. I realise your drinking is a form of self medicating and not a social need, however I'm certain it's probably causing you more issues than you realise. Re: your ex-partner, I understand the situation, and well done for having concern for her welfare. Takes a big man with a big heart to put others before yourself particularly when you are struggling. That said, I do think you need to draw a line, even if it's so you can move on, as I'm sure having her around in your life is likely not helping the situation either. Have you thought about setting her a deadline. You could maybe tell her you'll give her another 3-4 months support with the flat, at which point if she's not in a position to fund it herself, that's on her. Seems reasonable to me and you can't allow yourself to be drawn into supporting her indefinitely, especially with how you are feeling. Sometimes you need to be a little selfish and put yourself first. Hope you start to feel better soon.

Said to my mate who's an Arsenal fan that in my opinion based on the options he reportedly has, that whilst Arsenal isn't necessarily a bad move, there's better teams out there in terms of developing players and transitioning to the first team. Very few have managed to break through and make that spot their own under Arteta.
