The worst season in our history
Clogger_ replied to when_you're_smiling's topic in Leicester City Forum
I'll make a case for last season being even worse. We had a last chance to take decisions that would put the club on a firmer footing - even if it made relegation likely. Instead... -
It's absolutely up for debate. Yes he was persuaded against his instincts to legislate to allow gay people to marry: a big step after the Tory party's disgraceful attitude towards gay people for many years previously. That *rightly* built on the civil partnership legislation which I recall many Tories fiercely opposed. Cannot remember anything else that was vaguely "socially progressive" from Cameron. Not a vapour of liberalism left in the Tories nowadays as they grovel for crumbs from bonkers Americans, far right billionaires and their media empires. Conclusion: fake all the way. P.s. Don't like any revisionism about Cameron or his government. We'll never undo the colossal damage they wrought on our country.

You are in for a rude awakening

Owners of the social media sites and newspapers that are encouraging this: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2026/apr/18/the-families-torn-apart-by-older-relatives-going-far-right (For some reason, Alison's story about her brother seems apposite...)

Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official

This is completely wrong. Cooper's splurge on garbage wrecked our one chance of kicking on. Long contracts and exorbitant fees set us back years: we will suffer the consequences into the future. Tactically *clueless* to the extent it was absolutely obvious from pre-season! A disastrous appointment - one of our very worst. Any results we cobbled together under Cooper were pure fluke. We can look to stats for evidence if we're determined to ignore what nearly everyone could see! Crikey, even Top and Rudders knew he was sh1t! You repeatedly bring up Forest as the reason fans turned against him. Demonstrable rubbish. Do you rate Wes Morgan? We all do! What's he up to nowadays? -
Ah! Thanks for that

Oh, and to mention Ed Miliband in this thread is so, so, so odd. I wonder which politicians 'splinterdream' would hold as paragons of virtue? And don't give the cop out answer of "none, they're all as bad as eachother"
-
Ed Miliband remains one of the more impressive and capable politicians in our country. Look at the pygmies in our right wing parties if you doubt it! That's why the RW press go after him so hard. In turn that's why he has become your bete noire! I think the phrase "nut (sic) zero zealotry" is deeply, deeply weird. What do you want: more fossil fuels? Less renewables? More emissions? No ambitions to improve things for the future? Really?! Can you explain yourself, as I'm all ears. I wonder which countries have the cheapest energy? Spoiler: as covered previously on this thread, it isn't those most reliant on fossil fuels... Do you think being so dependent on importing gas is a good thing in our changing world? And don't give it the "drill more in the North Sea" argument without being able to explain *how* that will help in any meaningful way at all! Gut instinct isn't enough: anyone with expertise is absolutely clear that the North Sea is *not* the answer. The policies being pursued by the government are a step in the right direction, but they clearly do not go far enough or quickly enough. As for pollution, look at the positive impact of ULEZ extension on emissions and air quality. The zealots we should be concerned about are those lobbyists for the fossil fuel industry, coupled with politicians desperate for donations and/or attention from the crazies in the US.

While I don't feel as strongly against Vichai's statue as others, I'd note a few things on recent posts: - "Khun Vichai" feels uncomfortable to me. I get it's being used as a mark of respect, but with respect we are not Thai and our connection to Vichai was distant at best. (Did anyone on this forum ever have a chat with him?) - The bit about doing things in the community *is* to be applauded, but it gets overplayed. Clearly effective PR. I wonder if KPs donations to the community continue at present? If not, that could suggest the early donations were simply a way of building a positive profile for previously unknown (and untrusted) owners rather than making a *sustained* commitment to our community. If the donations have continued, fair do's - We have no other statues outside the ground, not even to Vardy - Do any other clubs have statues of their owners, let alone in the most prominent location? - My recollection is that the purging of pre-KP history from our ground moved at pace under *Vichai*, to the point where there is next to nothing left On reflection I see no reason to remove the statue altogether, but I do see why others find it uncomfortable. Despite the vibe, our ground is NOT a mausoleum; ownership is transient. It's the kind of thing that supporter's groups could consult on in the future: should it be moved?

Yes, it is. Extremely weird
-
Huh, this is a weird take

I'd ask Pearson what to change, and do it

How in God's name can our shower win a game let alone a competition

Just adding my appreciation for Pipes. Heart is in the right place

I want that sh1tstain Orban gone soooo much. Counting on Hungarian friends to kick him into touch
-
We all know deep down that KP want out, but they're snookered by our debts and terrible league position. What comes first? Cut their losses and run, or wait for administration?
-
Can't argue with Rose, lovely chap and would crown a great career. If he's in the hunt I'll be roaring him on
