Newcastle is a great place for young people to socialise but it is bloody cold especially when the wind blows off the sea. Definitely not for everybody. Its not all about the Champions League.
-
That is very true but the point is when discussing potential targets , do not assume that they will all be prepared to come to us. Its not as easy to convince players as in some computer program. We have used money in the past and that is costing us dearly now. This is a new era and our approach must change.

Footballers have wives and girlfriends who like to shop and socialise. The village pub and tearooms won't impress them. Leicester would be way down the list of locations to socialise in England. Too many underestimate the power that they have over the partners. Driving 60 miles to training is also nobody's idea of fun even if you have a chauffeur.

Not everybody wants to come to this city , it ain't sexy. How do you get over that problem? You throw money at it. We have done too much of that and that is a major reason we are where we are.

On and on these threads go with players who are out of favour. If Castagne plays against Coventry and scores they will all disappear. He will go but not until somebody offers him at least the same pay. He has a very legal contract and as a professional , he is not going to give up possibly millions of pounds for us.

Coventry Home First Game of the Season

Since 1972 both clubs have won 18 matches against each other. Leicester dominated before WW2. -
As long as they offer him his £50,000 a week that is. Or, given inflation and PL status maybe more.
-
Pep signing another heavyweight in Gvardiol. This will make them the heftiest team in the PL. The days of little men playing tippy tappy are well and truly over. In the end if skills are equal muscle wins matches.
-
Sorry , I didn't think we were being nationality specific. It seems to me that Dennis and Rodgers did not get on at all , probably because Dennis thought his tactics were crap and he was right. I am certainly not blaming him for anything , he is a sound enough player and is not and never has been spectacular. He will probably see his contract out and it wouldn't surprise me if Enzo uses him quite often.

Our pursuit of the mythical next Mahrez is one of the longest standing jokes in football.

Theoretically yes , but Leicester is not a commercial hub and is still most noted for its cheap manufacturing economy. You need to attract clients and that will not be easy. The business plan has to be there. However , if match ticket prices are low enough a 40,000 seated stadium could still be viable.
-
You try and persuade players to come and sit on our bench , we will have enough dissatisfied players as it is , Souttar , Thomas , JJ etc. Depth for some players means no game time. Maresca is going to have to be good at player management to keep them happy.
-
The blame lies entirely with Rodgers and his life expired backroom team . He failed on nearly every front. The club saw the iceberg and thought we were unsinkable. I will not blame individual players , the lack of leadership virtually destroyed their motivation.
-
Hard to blame Praet or Vestergaard , they hardly played.
-
It took ages for the club to persuade him to come and they gave him a big contract to get it done. One of our numerous mistakes and we are not getting out of it on the cheap.
-
Exactly what happens with these kids, they flatter to deceive. Football is littered with unfulfilled promise. For me , at least three years of consistent performance is necessary before you spend the money and then you do due dillegence on them , injuries, lifestyle and attitude . Not to mention work ethic.
-
We have tried a number of left footed wingers , they have all been underwhelming. There appears to be selective amnesia on here about that. Why are they so underwhelming ? because there is a vanishingly small number who are actually any good. One season wonders are everywhere of course and all over You Tube. Two years down the line they have fallen flat on their faces.

Coventry Home First Game of the Season

You can bet your life some will try to project the result , whatever it is , onto the whole season. Even if we lose 0-6 , we could still be promoted. We are going to get some disappointing results but the overall trajectory is what matters. -
If we pay him up , he will be off , see several others , if we want money for him no club is going to match his salary. No club at all.
-
I very much doubt that anybody on here really knows what is going to happen. We should be among the stronger teams and that's about all you can say.

Coventry Home First Game of the Season

This also applies to Leeds and Southampton and yet the PL has Luton and tin pot Bournemouth. The fault lies with the owners of these clubs. The past is the past and King Power's credit is all used up . They start getting it right or they clear off. -
The home crowd will give him plenty of support. However on here he will get stick but they all do , so nothing unusual. He won't give a monkeys about our opinions because he won't read them.
-
Most on here were satisfied with our January deals, they wet their pants about Tete, considered VK a massive upgrade on Thomas and thought Souttar was far better than Amartey. The transfer market is not the answer to our problems . They are deep seated and will take time to resolve. We will win matches this season and lose them and we should cut the overreaction to results and watch for a gradual improvement. If we settle down and continue to improve throughout the season , we will be fine.

If we make him the highest paid player in the Championship , it could happen.
