Premier league clubs to vote on scrapping VAR
Chelmofox replied to David Hankey's topic in Leicester City Forum
I would like to to move to a process where offsides are autonomous and instant (next season apparently). Once we see this and do away with the godforsaken lines I think we all accept offsides. Getting is done quickly and getting the image on the big screen is key. For onfield decisions I would love it if we could move to a situation where we use 'referees call' as the baseline, and then use AI to do the checks. So for a handball if the ref doesn't give it, and AI determines that there is a > 70% probability it is handball, then the decision is overturned. Likewise if the the ref gives handball and AI determines < 30% probability its handball then the decision is also overturned. A bit like the LBW process in cricket. The on field officials still have to make a decision and the AI probability thresholds act as the 'clear and obvious error gauge'. We should have enough training data now to do this for handballs and fouls, and the AI should be able to review the necessary information quickly and the decisions can't be 'gamed' by the VAR officials. Although i do wonder what AI would make of a Maddison dive where he drags his back legs towards the defender -
Season Ticket - New - Successful or Not?

We got the seats we wanted (that we had been buying all year anyway!). Couldn't be happier! -
I actually think 10 mil is decent value. One very good season but still a team who were one defeat away from relegation. No Prem credentials and very little resale opportunity at his age. If Szmodics fancies a go of it in the Prem, does he really need his club putting unrealistic price tags on his head? Can he afford to wait one more season to make that move? I fully expect to hear in a few months that West Ham buy him for 25 mil.
-
Stoke really going for it next reason then.
-
Are you considering 20 mil a little amount of money? This is the sort of money KDH is being touted to go for. Blackburn can barely fill 50% of their stadium. If they are lucky to get anywhere near 20 mil they would bite anyone’s hand off.

Celebrate like you’ve won the title. Smashing.

What a load of crap. Dodgiest of decisions for us not to go 2 up. Comfortable my arse. This is fine. Norwich are crap. Were terrible at the KP. Got to get through a final now against a much better side.
-
On the plus side at least we get to see some of the Leeds posters again!
-
I think they sh1t the bed like they did against QPR. If they do it they are going to need a big mentality check. A huge amount of pressure on Leeds, being the best team in the Championship and all.

7 mil xfer and £20k per week. Performance related increase based on chances created. Deal.

Whats a trophy then?

Are Saudi still offering big contracts to the less well known players? Attendances are absolutely horrific out there, and the rest of the world couldnt give a shit. Imploded pretty quickly.

Brighton, Wolves and Fulham all in relegation form. Long may it continue.

Premier league clubs to vote on scrapping VAR

Why is there a different tech used for offside in international games? Why can’t that be used domestically? -

Then the next conspiracy will be that you just wait that 30 seconds to get the decision you want. I mean, it takes them longer than that just to identify the frame where the player kicked the ball. -

Didn’t see the incident. Would it have been an incident where it wasn’t overruled because of the clear and obvious error rule? But again, if all that’s being is a slow mo then the term ‘blatant pen’ is still subjective, especially if it’s to overrule the infield decision. Clear and obvious decision is too subjective in my opinion. -

I didn't say anything about the rule for handball. I said all the technology does is offer slow motions which means there is no other data available to make a decision. The slow mo's only offer the officials the ability to interpret whatever the rules are now. I presume the rules change to try and appease the fact the technology doesn't really do anything. With your point about optical based cameras, if there is a solution that works then that great, but the fact it's not being used meant that the current technology implemented is not good enough, so my original point makes sense. -

I think he will be used tactically when facing bottom half teams that will be more beatable when we can leverage his passing. I keep saying this, we need to be competitive with the bottom half of the table. To do that we need to play to our strengths in these games and this is where Jannik will come in. -

The technology is the issue. There isn't a working system to make decisions instantly, especially for offsides. A system that requires the official to manually work out the 'frame' in which the ball was struck, and where the lines need to be drawn (they decide the frickin body part there and then) is a technology that isn't fit for purpose. Furthermore, all VAR ads to handballs and fould is the abilty to slow motion. Anything around intent, and position of the arm etc is down to interpretation. The tech doesn't work. -

The whole process is now riddled with fear, mostly due to clubs reactions when they aren't happy (same clubs are silent when decisions are in their favour). In too many cases fans don't know what is going on, nor do many understand the VAR rules (clear and obvious being one of them - many fans still think it applies to offsides, which it doesn't). The offside decisions in the last few Prem games i've seen (one took an age in the Villa/Liverpool game), the footage they show from the VAR officials now doesn't show the lines being drawn. The lines are a farcical process anyway, so i suppose they don't want to expose the process. No chance the PL clubs vote against it though, as the long term goal will be for a fully automated system, but i hope we see some reforms: If we can't use the automated offside system, then scrap it. The VAR officials shouldn't be drawing lines and the decision should be almost instant. If this happens, i think fans accept it and move on from offsides. If for whatever reason the automated solution is not ready, scrap VAR for offsides until it's ready. I would also like to see less interventions for fouls. I would rather go with onfield decisions and if there is dangerous play then apply red card bans retrospectively. These decisions usually need the most time to assess and ironically even if it takes minutes to look into, more time is actually needed to review the incident. No idea what to do about handballs. These are the ones that should be most subject to 'clear and obvious', be we frequently see these overruled and become completely subjective in slow motion. Maybe the solution is to completely losen the 'clear and obvious' rule and only overrule horrendous decisions. But clubs will just whinge when they don't like it. -

ha ha! Whatever, that place where Enzo played Ndidi (and we lost Cassadei). He's played Ndidi, Yunus, Riccy and Kasey there. Riccy generally found himself injured when he played there and will be needed for the inverted rb role, Ndidi and Yunus have gone. We have gaping holes there. -

Sorry, what ever number people associate with what Ndidi plays. I get confused with the numbers. -

We have no depth in midfield, no cover for winks and KDH (who might be off anyway) and no first choice 10. There are far bigger priorities upfield. -

The aim is to be anything above 17th. You know we aren’t going to be top 8 right?
