Sure but once again my point and my only point in my initial reply is that his record at the top level is, demonstrably, not 'pretty poor'. No disrespect to the OP but there are lots of statements made on this forum that are said with breezy confidence that don't stand the most basic scrutiny. Usually I simply can't be bothered to comment on it but on this occasion I did. Someone's 'record' is essentially just a bunch of stats and a one figure summary does enough here to make the point. And I'm lazy. In terms of my opinion I think it's time for Kel to move on, but that he's been a good player for us and I wish him well. Hope he goes on to do well elsewhere.

You said he had a poor record, it's a very specific statement but one made without factual basis. I was just pointing that out. The other stuff is just your opinion and you're perfectly entitled to it.

I think he'll go on to have a decent record somewhere else. I don't know that. But I think and hope he does. His time here though is over, and that's best for all parties.

I've had this before. People never like stats when It doesn't agree with their thinking. It proves he doesn't have a poor record as you specifically said. I'm not saying he's as good as anyone else on the list. If you'd said don't fancy Kel at the top level he's no Drogba then you might have had a point.

All totally fair enough but irrelevant to the post I was commenting on really which was the blithe comment that he has a poor record at the top level. He doesn't. Subbed not subbed, whatever, you can argue not starting actually makes it harder to score regularly or that it makes it easier I don't know the answer to that. I do know to be on that list you need to be performing at least fairly regularly at the top level.

Going long under pressure, sure I can understand or in the very dying minutes of a game. But regardless of striker we aren't a team remotely set up for lumping it forward off goal kicks. Enzo wants control, that was not helping us control anything. Just wondered why we decided to do that.

One of the things I found odd was Hermansen going long from goal kicks towards the end. It contributed to us ceding control of the game as Ipswich won most of those long balls and came straight at us. I'm all for a hoof where the situation demands it, if he's under pressure etc but I couldn't understand why Maresca and told him to go long. I had consumed the best part of a bottle of fortified wine so perhaps I'm missing something or was I dreaming this?

He's been injured and barely had any consistent game time really. Far too early to judge at this point imo. Thought it was a slightly odd situation to throw him into yesterday given the state of the game and the Ipswich press. If he gets more consistent time during AFCON then we might be able to start forming some more objective opinions on how good, or not, he is.

Ric, you seem like a top bloke and I enjoy your contribution to the @BSLBPod but you you do tend towards the melodramatic after minor setbacks. We'll be fine in January and I'm sure we'll reinforce in the transfer window as well. By mid Feb we'll be comfortably top. If we aren't then you have my permission to spaghetti hoop my washing.
