League One - Who manages us?
The mullet of Phil Gee replied to Muzzy_no7's topic in Leicester City Forum
Yes, since the new ownership came in at Stockport they have been very well run with a clear plan. Challinor and his backroom staff have played a huge part in that and the hierarchy actively speaks to the fan base to outline the plans for the club. It's so refreshing to see and makes me envious that we just don't get that at Leicester. I see their CEO (Simon Wilson) is also leaving so there will be big changes afoot for them. Challinor for me is exactly what we need right now. If we can get him in I would predict him having a similar effect to when Big Nige first arrived. -
League One - Who manages us?

I moved to Manchester from Leicester over 20 years ago, and with Stockport being my nearest team, they've become my adopted second team. I've watched them a lot over the years from their time in league 1, down to non-league and back again. Dave Challinor for me is a great manager who we should be going all out to get. I can't see it happening because he's not a yes man and Rudkin and Top would not like his no nonsense manner, so most likely we will end up with the useless 'Poundland Pep' that is Russell Martin. Challinor excels in building strong and solid teams throughout and then adds a touch of flair as in the likes of Louie Barry on loan. Also, he has a great judge of character and does not tolerate poor performance. An area we have been severely found wanting over recent years. In addition to Barry, there's also the potential of luring Ollie Norwood who is far too good for league 1 and Adama Sidibe who is a strong, raw and pacy striker. If our owners are serious, they should be going 100% full throttle to bring Challinor in. Sadly, I suspect we all know this is not going to happen. It looks like he'll end up at Blackburn, but we should at least try. Yes, I'm biased and a touch deluded, but I think Leicester and our setup gives Challinor a far greater chance of reaching the Prem in the coming years. -

Jamie Vardy: One Last Party?
The mullet of Phil Gee replied to indierich06's topic in Leicester City Forum
My heart says 'Yes 100%'. I'd love to have Vardy back with us for a year in League 1' It might be his final season as a player, so potentially a great way for him to finish. Head however, says No. Rudkin would never go for it for starters, and I wouldn't want to block the opportunity for an up and coming striker who could play a key role in our future. I could see Vardy as the new Birch though. Imagine the mayhem he would cause. -
We could always ask Daka Can't, Leicester's answer to Chaka Khan to rock up at 5 to 3 to belt out his classic hit 'I love scoring goals!' Apparently come August his diary is completely empty.

It happened on the way to (or from) the ground
The mullet of Phil Gee replied to DJW1's topic in Leicester City Forum
On 22nd September 1990 we played Sheffield Wednesday at Filbo and the buggers hammered us 4-2. Walking back to the car afterwards down Eastern Boulevard, me and 2 mates encountered some Wednesday fans who were not content with just beating us on the pitch. After a few words, one of them swung a punch at my mate who quickly ducked his head to avoid it. Unfortunately, his head landed straight in the tray of chips that the guy was holding in his other hand. Upon recovering, my mate let out a throaty roar of "I f**king hate curry sauce!". After that it all fizzled out to nothing, but it was funny at the time. -
It seems that Gary is having trouble deciding which golf clubs to buy, and even more trouble persuading Rudders to caddy for him.

Granted, it might just be wind, but my gut feeling is that Rowett might just be what we need right now. If he can tighten us up defensively, we should have enough going forward to get out of the bottom 3 and to safety. Let’s get back to playing some gritty, no-nonsense football for once. We can then reevaluate in the summer.

Person you want to get us out this mess

How’s about Bonnie Blue? Picturing Top and Rudders conducting that interview conjures up a grisly image. Dread to think what merch would appear in the shop! -
Harlow Town away in 1980 and Exeter City away in 1981. Now what could possibly go wrong? 😱

Jordan Ayew - NEVER PLAYING FOR LEICESTER AGAIN!!!
The mullet of Phil Gee replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
I really hope I’m wrong, but you can almost see the headline. ‘Foxes agree 1 year extension for Ayew”. Club hierarchy believes his experience will be invaluable in the battle to regain Championship status. -
I heard that KP’s most popular offerings of ‘Back 4 crumble’ and the bitter tasting ‘Striker, we can’t score for toffee apples’ had been lapped up greedily by the happy clappers.

Hee Hee! Thanks. I can still hurl them a long way. Cheers! Dave 👍

For me, we must part ways with Ruud at the end of the season. We need a complete overhaul in the summer of both squad and at board level. For our new manager, I would really like to see us go for somebody like Dave Challoner at Stockport. Living close by, I watch Stockport a fair bit and over the past few years Dave has built strong teams that have been successful in winning the National League, League 2 and now they are nailed on for a playoff spot in league 1. Dave is very no nonsense and what I like about him is that his teams are disciplined, strong, organised and packed with players who give everything. There rarely seems to be a stand out player. However, that’s because every player is solid in their position. This type of manager has served Leicester very well in the past and Dave also doesn’t seem to be a Pep wannabe which for me is ideal. I fear however that someone like Dave wouldn’t be considered by Top as he seems to prefer a big name over someone with proven ability. To quote some words of big Nige. I think Top and his cronies are suffering from delusions of grandeur. I don’t want another big name ex player. I want someone who can build a strong team and who will mend the damaged connection with the fan base. My vote goes to Dave Challoner.

Let’s hope she doesn’t take all the bloody cups with her. I can’t see us winning any more in the near future.

How about the ‘I’d prefer to’ stand?

The Ward Brain Fart Sweepstake Thread
The mullet of Phil Gee replied to a topic in Leicester City Forum
61st minute. That’s only because he’s forgotten that it’s a 2pm kickoff and runs onto the pitch at 3. -
My thoughts after our latest s**tshow! Leadership - There is zero leadership being shown at any level of the club. From Top to Rudkin to Whelan to Cooper to every single player. Without strong leadership any company or organisation will fail. King Power - This is a tricky one. Yes, I agree that Top might have lost some interest in us and would probably like to sell, but following everything that happened with Vichai, this has made it virtually impossible for him to do so. Instead, I think he’s chosen to distance himself and hand the reigns to Whelan and Rudkin who are not showing the leadership needed. Cooper - For me it’s time for him to go. He might have been all we could attract when we faced a points deduction, but that no longer applies. We’ve seen enough now to know that we need somebody better. Better to act now rather than later when we might be in a worse position with fewer games left. We simply have to find a way to survive this season and for me that means sacking Cooper now. Our playing squad has a severe lack of leaders, so I think we need a manager who can really drill some discipline and a clear and effective style of play into them.

There seems to be this belief today that the Man City way of playing football is the one and only way. I just don’t believe that. Our own style should always be based around the players we have at the time and the strengths of our squad. If that means low possession and counter attacking then fine. Equally, if it means kicking the ball out for a throw instead of playing a hospital ball to Mads then so be it. Better that than concede a soft goal. For me there should always be different options available to win matches, rather than just the one. I just think too much importance is placed on a philosophy these days.
-
Deflated? No. I’m glad he’s going and here’s why. 1) I am sick of this Man City obsession. Yes, the style works for them because they are loaded and can buy the best talent available. Every other team is just a cheap imitation. Please can we adopt our own style and stop being another sheep. There are other ways to play football. 2) Enzo’s obsession with Pep is a bit creepy! Copying his philosophy is one thing, but trying to look like him too! Would it be a surprise if he had a small photo of Pep in his wallet? No! 3) How good is he really? For me, I’ve never been convinced. The question in my head last season was are we doing well because of Enzo or in spite of Enzo? We were in the Championship with the most talented squad. Yes, we won many games, but apart from a few, I never felt we were that convincing. Come the second half of the season, other managers had found a way to play against us and Enzo wouldn’t change. We lost 10 league games last season. 4) We were always going to be a stepping stone for him. Enzo has no loyalty to Leicester. Why would he? He saw a great chance to get a foothold in English club management by taking us back to the Premier. With the squad available to him, the odds of success were good. If it wasn’t this summer it would have been next. Despite his talk of seeing us as a project, he’s gone at the first opportunity. Actions speak louder than words. Who next for us? Good question! I would like us to recruit someone who puts value on building a solid and disciplined defence, which acts as a foundation for quick and decisive attacks. Not someone who is obsessed by how much possession we have. The constant playing out from the back last season was hard for my heart to cope with. Yes, every team is doing it now, but does that have to be the case? Why don’t we be brave and do something different rather than just following the crowd.

Jamie Vardy Appreciation
The mullet of Phil Gee replied to GeorgeTheFox's topic in Leicester City Forum
If I had to put a tenner on where I think Jamie will be playing next season it would be Como. I remember hearing an interview after our promotion was confirmed where he said he was on the phone to Dennis Wise at the time. Only Jamie will know how hard he found it in the Premier last time, and if he thinks he can still make an impact for us in what is going to be a very tough season. I suspect he’ll view helping us back up to be a good way to sign off. Wrexham has been mentioned but I can’t see him going there.
