I didn’t see the game as on the plane but caught the highlights and surprised this is the first post on Jakub. Sounds like everyone was 2/10 but you will lose matches at any level, with such school boy stuff from your keeper.

I don’t understand the Alves sub. Bilal is surely likely to leave this window, not saying that Alves should automatically be his replacement but football is all about momentum, he didn’t pull up trees in the first half but can say that other than Monga (for the first 20 minutes) that no one did.

The football has been awful but some of the “told you so” posts on here are even worse. When Faes or Jannik have a howler, which they’ve proven countless times that they will, can I post a comment about Okoli or Nelson, as smugly as some have done tonight?

I’d say a team with the budget that we had last time round, that conceded 41 times, is pretty unreliable. For comparison, last season, Burnley conceded 16, Leeds 30 and even Sheffield United 36. I’d say that it was a bit of a myth that Faes and Jannik were very good in the Championship. It’s probably fairer to say that we were comparing them both to their performances in the PL. Which is pretty damning considering their PL wages.

You’ve inadvertently summed up our signings since Fofana. We make zero sense with our signings, take Fofana as an example, a young, extremely athletic CB, pairing him with Evans made complete sense. We sell him and replace him with a downgrade of Cags. Last season, we have to sell KDH as we’re run by two cast from The Muppets, what does he leave behind? An athletic box to box CM, who started making a niche for himself with late runs into the box and scoring quite a few goals. What do we replace him with? Skipp, a CM with no endearing qualities and definitely not the ability to get you goals from deep. How can our recruitment not only be so bad, but so short sighted.

What were Skipps’ stats from his 45 minute cameo? I dislike them both but feel that Skipp gets so much more flak on here than the lazy man child that is Bouba.

Faes is the new Danny Ward. Rightly or wrongly, fans have had enough of this group of players and whilst I wouldn’t boo one of ours before kicking a ball, telling other people what to do isn’t my style either. Hopefully, Faes like a few others leaves before the window shuts as it’s genuinely best for all parties. Sadly, I can’t see that happening and dread seeing him and Jannik as our starting CB’s for majority of the season.

The problem with Jannik is his defending. I don’t know if it’s a tactics thing or he goes rogue because of his obvious limitations but he always drops back so doesn’t defend as a pair with his CB partner. We will concede a lot of goals, just like we did the last Championship season due to his lack of pace and mobility.

Exactly this. If Skipp dropped into the 6 and Winks replaced Bouba, would he be getting the same amount of comments that Skipp’s had today? Skipp was very poor, but Bouba was even worse IMO.

Serious question. If Bannan doesn’t get sent off, it’s not the first game of the season and their players aren’t dropping like flies with cramp, would he have been as effective? I don’t actually mind Ayew coming off the bench, but if he’s a 90 minute player, at any league (at this stage of his career) then we’re in for a slog of a season.

Did I have a Harold Bishop moment and forget what happened before kick off? I swear, that quite a few posters were saying starting him was the right choice? The guy is a liability and I frankly couldn’t care, “how well he trains”. The biggest difference between this season and Enzo’s, is how we have kept the rats of our previous demise. Bouba and VK were out of the door, pretty sharpish last time!

I don’t agree with booing our own players when coming on as a sub. However, people love a bit of revisionism with Wout. He has had some proper stinkers, I’m talking 2/10 performances. It is clearly best for all parties that he moves on, sadly, I can’t see anyone being hoodwinked even by his agent’s hilarious LinkedIn post.

He didn’t when the ball hit the net, but he definitely did when he cupped his ears.

We looked much better in that second half, which wasn’t hard to do. Ayew cannot play as the nine but still have a question mark on whether he and a lot of our players only looked better, when playing against 10 and clearly very unfit players. I just don’t like most of this squad, makes me hard to keep that positivity that normally happens when you win a game.

Has a player ever been booed when scoring for us before?

Kasey, Ayew and Daka. Means very little creativity and a lot of over reliance on Bilal and a raw Monga.

He was bad but not sure that Bouba should get off lightly. If they both got taken off, no one would have grumbled.

Abdul has been our only player that looks bothered. Okoli was dodgy there but a huge gripe with Jannik playing, we can’t suffocate their low block as he has to drop so deep.
