Top observation to be fair. I thought as others said that he looks like a CB defending the channels which 99% struggle doing but will look out for this now. I like his progressive passing and left footedness but let’s say we keep Jannik next season (and we get promoted 🤞🏻). Then we’d need a much more mobile option to rotate with JJ.

Surely they’re not mutually exclusive? Whatever reason why, how he continued to play after such awful performances still winds me up.

I’ve always defended Praet and thought there is a player but similar to a few players who snuck out of the door last season on a free….it’s so obvious that’s what he’ll do so not fussed if went before the window closes (if we actually bring someone in). Otherwise, he’ll go down as another “what if” and partly that’s down to Rodgers but also partly his apparent lack of fight IMO….the lack of 90 minutes he’s played is shocking.

I dislike Rodgers as much as the next guy but the only person to blame for the way Thomas’ career has panned out, is Luke himself. Hopefully extend his contract and make a couple of quid in the summer?

Before the club offered him that new contract did they not think of his off field antics? He seems to be more front page news rather than on the back pages. At 26 and a player that Enzo has clearly put more faith than Rodgers did……you’d have hoped he’d realise the very fortunate situation that he finds himself in (being paid silly money at your boyhood club and actually getting minutes on the pitch).

The one time that Burns actually made an intelligent run (what PL strikers/wingers would do regularly) he was exposed and somehow got away without giving away a free kick in a very dangerous position (watch the replay back, Jannik took the lad out then moaned). With VAR pretty much re refereeing a game…..he’d scare the life out of me. No way would you want 3 out of 4 CB choices of Faes, Coady and Vestergaard playing this style of football in the PL. Now if we moved Faes/Coady (don’t think you’d recoup enough for Coady) and offered Jannik a short term deal and had athletic CB’s to mask his deficiencies then it could be different story.

How many top clubs have had the same DoF for as long as Rudkin has been in-situ? The whole set up is stale. Surely even his defenders on here would like to see a change of some sorts?

Not accepting an offer on a keeper who is what 3rd or 4th choice is a bit different than expecting a bit more for your Crown Jewels to be fair.

This was my take too but sadly last seasons ignorance from the whole club still irks me. So whilst it’s good to see KDH’s “arrogance” if call it that but hopefully Enzo and co aren’t as naive as yesterday (even before the sending off) was a below par performance..

I think Faes has been very good in the main this season but felt he was mentally and physically weak when needed him most today. One thing that I always notice about him is when we concede he doesn’t get angry but looks mentally deflated, I remember when he signed he claimed to be a natural leader but don’t think he displays that aspect of the game at all.

I’m as annoyed as anyone but some of the OTT reactions are ridiculous. Did Enzo get it wrong? Probably Was Fatawu silly for giving the ref a decision to make? Definitely Is it all about dusting ourselves off and getting ready for a tough game at home against Ipswich? 100% BUT can people please stop banging on about breaking Reading’s record….just complete the target set at the start of the season just get promoted.

We had an almost perfect festive period and if it means the players don’t allow any complacency to creep in, I’ll take one day going against us with our big buffer.

I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if your next update is that Praet is missing due to sickness. I have been a fan/defended Praet before on here but his ability at somehow missing out on match day squads is nothing short of a joke this season.

I am happy to die on this hill and don’t want to stray from Evans on an Evans thread (classic Foxestalk) BUT anyone defending Youri’s performances last season….fancy explaining how? I genuinely loved the guy but can’t think of one performance last season that was above 6/10.

His performances/lack of professionalism during his last 18 months or so was a bit more than being a bit podgy though. Rodgers was wrong (how many times have I posted that) to keep playing him despite his continued unforced errors, apparent lack of fitness levels that you’d expect from someone in the leadership group.

I can see what you’re saying about Evans technical ability but as others have stated, his lack of leadership undermines a lot of this. Add that he wasn’t much quicker than Maguire meant he looked better when had a Cags/Fofana next to him that could use their athleticism. He clearly had a pedigree, that’s not in doubt but if highlighting Huth’s limitations then the above re: Evans might be why a few of us questioned Evans being our most all rounded CB in “x time”.

Spot on post mate. The word I would use most about the respect (lack of) given to some of the FA cup winners for me is waste. I don’t think a single fan when Youri signed on a permanent deal would have foreseen his 18 months of unfit, unprofessional performances. As for Evans, his comments after the West Ham game sadly doesn’t surprise me as West Brom fans called out his commitment etc. He was a very good CB on his day but it’s fair to question his lack of reading the room and quite frankly out of touch thought process, I get it’s a job to them but it’s not like one of us doing a 9 - 5 job is it?

Good post mate. I am surprised that more ex pros aren’t using injuries as another stick to hit with VAR with. The added stop/start and extended periods surely isn’t ideal for an elite sportsman? You can’t feel for the very (over) well paid footballers but they are def treated like robots by the TV channels and worse even some managers, Rodgers over playing players is a prime example.

Exactly this. De Zerbi will leave for a “bigger” club but that’s not happening right now. I don’t know why but I could see him replacing Pep when he leaves Man City.
