  1. Monga is a possibility to play the 10 when he's back too.
  2. Yes but this kind of thinking is unrealistic. You're talking about bringing in a striker with a proven record at a top 5 league that would be both free or at least cheap, and would be willing to drop to a team in the championship to a club that's been mid table all season and is looking at a potential points deduction. Which Serie A striker that's been banging it in over there is thinking "You know what I fancy, dropping into the English 2nd tier and having a crack at that"? It's not short term thinking, it's taking a loan with a future view. By your logic getting JJ in on loan was short term thinking. It's what you do, you loan players in with a view to signing them if they prove to be worth signing. Carranza hasn't worked, JJ has, Yunus didn't work, Abdul absolutely did. We're not in a position to sign somebody for any sort of decent amount, and if we were we'd be competing with low end premier league clubs like West Ham for the kind of player you're describing. I mean, name a proven striker who is currently in a position where we could afford them, they're available and they would want to come here.
  3. Yeah his perceived value will have taken a hit but the players getting games in his stead will be having their values increase whilst the loan fees have likely more than paid his initial outlay.
  4. He has smashed it in the eredivisie and he smashed it in the bundesliga before. Pepi is their first choice striker and is simply better than anyone we can attract. You'll have to chirp in with some suggestions of a striker with some sort of proven record, who won't cost anything and who would come to us in our situation. All ears.
  5. I think the only thing nailed on this season is that Coventry are going up and Wednesday are going down. Boro are trying to insert themselves as a definite for an auto spot but any number of clubs could throw in a bit of consistency and leap frog them. Would be nice if it were us, but we're a way off that for now.
  6. Might be worth asking about Boadu. Contract expires in the summer, though PSV hold an option for a further year. But he cost them nothing and he's barely played for them. His career has gone really up and down. Excellent for AZ, didn't make it at Monaco but in fairness has a respectable record given the minutes he was given. Excellent record again for Bochum in the Bundesliga and then off to PSV to sort of repeat the Monaco type of situation. Only thing is he's not an all round striker, but given his situation I'd have thought PSV would be keen on loaning with a view to selling given he cost nothing and isn't playing. And given our situation we need to be trying something.
  7. Shows how much attention I pay to Scottish football!
  8. 3-1 now. Hearts will be loving this.
  9. Best individual goal?
  10. Ipswich fans are having a moan that their keeper has been targeted a few times this season with long range attempts like that. I'm wondering if it's something that was talked about before hand or if it was completely opportunistic from Fatawu.
  11. A big criticism was that his QPR side had a low goals per game rate and we were very much in the same boat. Lately that's improved. Hopefully it can become the new norm, rather than the peak. 10 goals in the last 4.
  12. Though Silko seems to be getting a lot of unwarranted shit. I know his loan to Wigan was incredibly underwhelming but the lads done nothing wrong in a Leicester shirt, and he's only really been on to help see games out.
  13. Given HoneyB is a big advocate of the young players, I doubt it.
  14. That was on page 2 mate. If he's happy there, despite the fact they're rock bottom and losing most weeks, that's a pretty good indictment of his character. If there's no loan to a league one side where he's guaranteed starts then leave him with Fuchs.
  15. Cartwright starting for Falkirk against league leaders Hearts.
  16. I don't think that's real y'know.
  17. Him going away is even more reason to use him today. Given we know we're going to be without him it's not much of an issue if he picks up an injury. If it were 3-0 though I reckon he might have got Evans on. Though at present none of us know whether Cifuentes sees him as a striker or as a winger, so maybe the striker role is irrelevant in this case.
  18. Crap pie doesn't sound too appetising.
  19. I thought we got 8?
  20. When Ramsey is back I wouldn't be shocked to see Marti try him as the 9 for a game or 2. We've got no Daka, Ayew probably can't play there every game and Carranza is a cardboard cutout.
  21. He's shit with his feet. But this is the championship where generally that's less of an issue. It is pretty comical though that I'd feel safer seeing him trying to make saves from opponents efforts than receiving the ball from his own teammates! If we had a bigger CF he could just be lumping it dead centre, but it's not an option. Jakub isn't a problem for this level. Maybe if we went up...
  22. Just trying to find his range.
  23. Neither Heskey is a striker and Jaden is the one I've seen linked with possible loans and he's a midfielder.
  24. I reckon that's a crafty way to nullify the impending deduction.
  25. Nice leap up the table too isn't it?
