They will try no doubt Personally, I like both players and championed them both in the summer and thought both had the potential to tear this league up and re Daka, was mocked for this view point by some. I also have an ability many don’t have which is not to be pig headed and refuse to admit I was wrong about things. With these factors in mind, I think it enables me to be quite balanced in my views and Nacho has honestly been a huge disappointment and the side has looked much less functional with him in it. He’s had his moments but his return has been poor. Daka has come in and improved the overall link up between the front 3 and has a good goal contributions return since being in the side as well as the pressing aspect mentioned. This argument of the goals being too ‘simple’ is laughable! How many of Vardy’s goals in the record run for example, were pens and tap ins? The fact that a good striker has to be in the positions to take the chances seems to be lost on some!
-
On a serious note, even without Ndidi, those number 8 positions are vital and need further depth. A lot of the good interplay I think comes from the 8’s breaking forward and linking with the wingers. Ndidi and Fatawu have been particularly good. I’d say that’s the main one generally and for AFCON cover. I understand the concern about strikers but we have 4 on the books so it won’t happen. Unless we could shift Kel before. Alternative, more keepers so we can indeed, have #benchofkeepers
-
I just hope we have managed to get a couple in before those involved depart to the tournaments. If signings haven’t come in and the squad is depleted, I dread to think how many keepers Enzo will name on the bench
-
I agree with you on this. I think often people on this forum have to make things to opposite extremes. It seems that those you have been in debate with seem to have the impression you are saying Kel is some sort of world beater or otherwise up with the names on that list posted. It is clear you are not but just combating the point he has always had a poor record (the negative extreme of views). His problem has been holding down a regular place. This is why counter arguments like scoring one in 5 don’t hold up as with Nacho, those 5 appearances probably only equate to a game or so of minutes. Ultimately, not everyone in the squad can be a starter and he has been very professional in being second fiddle to Vardy for a number of years without complaining. I think we must all agree his time is at an end either this coming month or in the summer but he has given us some good contributions and we should thank him and wish him well in his next move.

They are one step forwards and two steps back because whenever they have found a formula that could work, they self destruct (see removing Rowett for Zola when they were in the play off positions a few years back). Sorry but Rooney taking them from in the play off positions to close to the relegation positions is fact. Eustace not maintaining what he started is pure speculation. The likelihood is probably somewhere between. Yes they may have dropped off somewhat from their start but almost certainly nowhere near to the extent they have done. Which circles back to the point of Rooney being an awful appointment. Does it mean Rooney will never make a successful manager anywhere? Not necessarily. But clearly it was an awful call from Birmingham which they have form for.

Could just make it more likely a deadline day move when AFCON it half way through maybe? Bit of a saving on wages.

You won’t get it. But good numbers provided yourself. Daka is one of those who some will just hate on and die on that hill than admit to being wrong unfortunately. To the extent that I think they are gutted to see him doing well even if it’s to the benefit of the team Complaining that the goals he scores are too simple though is a new one! How many of the goals in Vardy’s record run were pens and tap ins, a few as I remember it!

Your view is absolutely not backed up by results this season!

Ipswich (A) 1 - 1 - Boxing Day - Post-Match Thread
LCFCJohn replied to lnkstern's topic in Leicester City Forum
Have been looking through the thread on and off around the hecticness of the past couple of days and caught up. Aside from the small number of over dramatic and reactionary posts, the vast majority is spot on. Clearly Ipswich had a huge amount go for them with the pen and red card not given and of course the nature of the goal. But they forced the issue and I thought were good for the point. For those saying Ipswich were crap, as their visiting supporters have highlighted, they did have some missing and I did get the feeling, without being an expert on them, they they were below par themselves albeit maybe not to the extent we were. Compare that to the game with Leeds where they had to field their best 11 and play to their absolute maximum whilst we were crap just to scrape a narrow win. Ultimately a draw away at 2nd placed side is a good result and I would have taken it before, even if the circumstances mean there is some disappointment. I’m not sure Ipswich need to be too concerned about Leeds who flatter to deceive and will follow up a great result with a bad one. Southampton though are a different matter as they are on a great run themselves and have closed the gap. As for ourselves, we should have a ‘respectful eye’ on Southampton ourselves. We have a good cushion now that should be enough. However, we know at the top of the table, things can change quickly. -
Yeah I’m sure this is the case. As I say, I found it odd as it shouldn’t be subjective (in my view). If the keepers view being obscured by a player in an offside position is deemed as interfering and therefore offside, within the rules of the game, I would expect VAR to be able to make that decision as they would with a situation as you describe. If others have seen similar cases referred to the onfield ref that’s fair enough. As I say, I haven’t. It felt, and I may be looking too much into it, that it was because of it being Liverpool.
-
Ah ok, I hadn’t seen that to be fair. The game was on in the background with sound off so I wasn’t paying attention to the build up to the incident. As you go on to say though, the fact that the VAR screen was saying checking offside and the replays were of that, it would suggest they were just looking at him stood in the way of the keeper. More specifically, could they find a way of getting out of disallowing the goal.
-
On the VAR thing, I noticed one thing on Boxing Day when having the Burnley/Liverpool game in the background that bothered me. It was the Elliot goal for Liverpool which was disallowed due to Salah being offside in the goalkeepers eye line. An easy decision I thought as he is offside and interfering as the keeper could not see. VAR made the ref go to look on the monitor. I have never see them have to go to the screen for an offside as they are clear cut. Maybe I have just not seen this happen and am missing something? For me, it just had the feeling of VAR not wanting to disallow the goal due to it being Liverpool so passing the book onto the ref. I am sure if that has been in a game between the likes of Sheff Utd/Luton/Wolves/Palace etc, VAR would just make the decision themselves!

Glad someone had said this before I had to! I thought I must have imagined him tearing the league apart on the way to our promotion
-
Personally, I think us and Southampton have the best squads in this league. Leeds have some good attackers but not the rounded strength of Southampton so I think you’re right with this.
-
Haha f*** Leeds! Cheated their way to the equaliser and James doing what he did just after for Browne to get booked was as bad! Justice prevailed anyway.
-
Awful decision. James stood on his foot and jumped up in the air ffs!

Rotherham (H) 3-0 - 23 Dec - Post-Match Thread
LCFCJohn replied to lnkstern's topic in Leicester City Forum
I’m not sure if it’s because we ran out comfortable winners but I haven’t seen anything said post match about the incident with their defensive howler that led to the ball being cleared off the line and whether it should have been a pen, unless I have missed it. Fats was clearly being pulled back and was honest to keep on his feet. I think it was a clear pen and should have been given. The problem being, players should be encouraged to be honest but if they are then not given decisions, surely next time it makes more sense to just go down? It encourages the wrong habits and you can see why players go down like an Olympic diver when they have to to get the decisions. -
Must be killing some on here that he’s doing well and scoring I wouldn’t say smug but I am definitely feeling vindicated in sticking by him whilst having the piss taken by others back in the summer. He has taken his chance well and truly. And to pre-empt the ‘ItS rOvRuM, mIlLwAlL and PlYmOuTh’, the whole point was he’d tear this league apart if given the chance and that is what this leave is made up of!

@hackenbacker, I had just read this after seeing your post on the match thread and the one about tickets on general sale and this may help you (family of 4). Might be worth speaking to @dnewty

Birmingham City (A) 2-3 Leicester - Post-Match Thread
LCFCJohn replied to lnkstern's topic in Leicester City Forum
It was a fair (and unnecessary yellow) for Mav as like someone said above, you know if you go over the hoardings or take your shirt off, it should be a yellow…..if officials are consistent. It is in the rules anyway. But, those getting offended by him winding up the Brum fans are just soft. It was fun and what harm did it cause? It shows personality. Vardy has been like this for years. I just find it funny grown adults in the crowd are swearing and shouting abuse at him. Grow up! I mean nobody is expecting you to applaud him for scoring but anyone with a sense of humour would just laugh surely! -
Wycombe are pretty harmless and inoffensive no? Luckily, we have Rotherham, Sheff Utd and Wednesday as well as the two oldest clubs in Sheffield FC and Hallam FC, all of who are inoffensive (yes even Utd and Wednesday) so plenty of local options for my little one if she wants. It was never a conscious decision I made, never made with any anger. I just gave up and stopped caring. I haven’t given the club any money in a long time and to be honest, even stopped following any of club socials over a year ago.
-
Interesting thread. I hadn’t realised that tickets were going unsold due to the poor decisions from the club. I just assumed it was always sold out by season tickets or members so never on general sale. Similar to a lot of people for me. I used to go home and away and did work down at the club on a match day (ironically in the sub ticket offices for walk up tickets). After uni, life happened, moved away, married etc and stopped as i had other things to do. Like many, I would like to go when I can. For a while that worked but in the last few years I have just given up and will watch via other means as so many others do. The membership thing is just a scam. Personally it is something I’ll never do. Of course being Leicester is ingrained in all of us and will never change but in a similar position to others, I have a daughter who may when old enough, want to go and watch football (she may also not). If she does, I have zero interest trying to take her to see Leicester. Rotherham is close by and much more accessible so she can go to them instead. And there is just one more young person who will never be a Leicester fan as I won’t introduce it to her. For myself, I have no interest giving the club any of my money any more whether that is ticket or merchandise. And I think it’s got to the point they could do a u-turn and my view wouldn’t change unless the ownership does.

Checks La Liga table…. Ah, get it! 1 Girona 2 Real Madrid 3 Barcelona
-
I’m not sure it’s about that as much as eliminating threats. Eliminate Leeds and Southampton then deal with Ipswich. End of the day, a draw is best, both losing 2 points.
-
I agree a draw is preferable. But if one has to win, it seems you’re using Southampton likely winning as justification for Leeds to win. We want them both to lose for the foreseeable! What Southampton are or aren’t doing doesn’t change what we want Leeds to do. Promotion first then title. We have only just reached halfway this weekend so wanting Leeds to lose it still the logical viewpoint.
