Interesting numbers and that it really does stop short of reaching 90 no matter how close! I think that could change this season though. When seeing the comparison tables after the same number of games recently, it seems that the teams in 3-6 place this season are about on a par with 1-4 last. It adds weight to Leeds and Southampton thinking they are unfortunate, not because they deserve to be top/second this season but because they are doing what is normally required and are not just outside the top 2 but by double figures! If that translates, it’s stands to reason that at least one of them will get a points total that is more like what second normally gets and breaking a record for 3rd place.

Very good player at this level. However, if the gap is equal or more and we are looking just as good for promotion in January, you’d like to think we would look at targets who would be more likely to make the step up.

Why? It’s a players choice whether to play international football and they can retire from it if they choose to.

Only down to 8. It showed how delicate any length of lead is how it was slashed like that. All credit to the fact it was a short blip and we have now recovered that original lead (well one point less)!

Echo others really. Bit of a slow first 15 where they had a few chances but only the tip over from Mads from the long throw of note. Last 15 necessary as they threw everything forward route one. The middle hour though, very very enjoyable. Some excellent football but a very high tempo set. I have enjoyed these counter attacking goals. Clearly we aren’t playing a counter attacking style and still have more possession etc but we are showing another strength and side to our game. If/when we go up, this will be important against sides who do push us back. Favourite stat is Mavadidi most tackles and during the game at least, Fatawu was second. A statistical representation of defending high up the pitch. Also, in the last 3 games, 6 goals scored in the 10 minutes after half time which have ultimately either killed off the game (Plymouth) or been the difference come the end. Positive and meaningful half time input from Enzo? And can we at least give Cannon a chance before writing him off?

Sorry but your post I responded to is utter bull. I have never connected your name/account with bad posts so you are probably a decent contributor overall but your view on this is way off! You have some sort of superiority complex over people who don’t live in the city basically? What do you think our support would be if it was limited just to people who live within the city boundaries? Probably League 1 attendances at best.

Oh haha. It was a response to you being dismissive of them being ‘in the question’. Let’s put this more simply. They are on the same points as Leeds. Leeds are crowing about being this amazing team etc whereas Southampton are just quietly collecting points despite a number of draws they would expect to have won. However, they are on a long unbeaten run, longer than we had ourselves this season. It is also a long season which is not yet halfway through. Therefore, to dismiss them being ‘in the question’ is a bit…silly.

Well given they are on the same points as Leeds, they are as much in the picture of them. Southampton seem less threatening as they go about it quietly but they are on a massively long unbeaten run. Their problem is draws. If they could change that they’d be flying.

Very interesting that the top 4 last season are pretty much like for like with the 4 in the play off positions this season currently. It does show what a unusual situation this season is with us and Ipswich and our points totals!

I don’t read the match threads to be honest so fair enough. But as I said, nothing about the points total etc, but the style of play. People will have different views on what they enjoy. Vitriol is of course ott and anything about Enzo himself as he seems a top bloke.

It really isn’t. There was plenty about this back in the summer, I remember putting some figures out there myself but must admit, it was @Finneganwho was driving the pro-Pat stat campaign more than me! His minute/games per goal were very good and if I remember, even last season would have translated to something like 15/16 goals over the season in the Premier League. If anything, a lot of the criticism he gets and those writing him off, was based on the ‘eye test’ rather than stats.

I find posts like this a bit strange. In terms of the stats highlighted by yourself, I don’t see anybody being negative or entitled about these. The points total is a record for a reason. In terms of the goals conceded, it is amazingly low especially when you look at the gap to the next lowest. It is a fair observation though, to see that across the season, we have often made silly mistakes but not been punished due to the finishing of the opponents at this level. It doesn’t concern me too much as between better personnel and Enzo being in charge longer, you’d hope this area improves. Where there is a divided view between different groups, it is about style of play and even this is not about either view being one of entitlement or affected by our recent achievements, but purely one of personal choice which people are entitled to.

Agree with the view that it should be Iheanacho going if anyone and Daka, if he wants to stay, should be in the side. Yes the goal last night was an easy finish but his performances in the past two games have been much better than those by Vardy and Iheanacho. Those still saying he should be out the side or not good enough, are very much those who have decided they don’t like him and even if he played and scored in every game from now until the end of the season would still die on that hill

Given that we had a 14 point lead over them which is now 8, you’d think people would realise that we need to not be complacent and be putting timeframes on promotion etc. Given the record breaking points totals from us and Ipswich but also like you point out, Leeds themselves having more than teams that have been top and Southampton not far behind them, if we can get promoted that is all that matters, even if it is the last day of the season!

This, and McAteer looked very good off the left side before his injury. And Yunus too. Hopefully central midfield will be on the January agenda, early in the month!

One of the most ironic things we see on here. I don’t think anybody genuinely wants us not to do well so they can moan which is the insinuation of the post you have quoted. Some people look for improvements or look at positives and negatives and use the latter for balance in their views whereas others can’t see any of this. Others find some performances and styles more entertaining than others. But yes the moaning about moaning posts

Deepest sympathies to those on this thread who are adamant Daka is a pub player On a serious note, really pleased for him. He couldn’t really win today in the sense that he’d get criticised if he didn’t perform today but no doubt there’ll be many who won’t give him any credit. He did what he could and helped us to a strong win

A bit disheartening that Leeds and Ipswich both won easily in what looked like tough away games. Good they Southampton choked late on and are now 11 points behind though. Of course we look after our own business and have won well ourselves. It is just unnerving to have 2/3 sides in equally good form on our tails and it’d be nice to see one or two drop off!

Nice to have a strong and convincing win at home as most of our better wins have been on the road. Very pleased for Daka too. Also invaluable to be able to take some off for a rest early which is of course the benefit of having the game wrapped up. It’s great that we seem to have recovered from the blip in results well!

What you have described is a connection though so your situation is absolutely not what I was describing. Plus I was referring to the ‘big 6’ etc. Im referring to those who have never been to the place or a game in their lives and follow a team essentially because they win a lot. A connection is a connection whether you have grown up on Filbert Street, elsewhere in the city/county or the other end of the country or overseas and have family connections to the club.

I nearly went to Uni down there, liked the place to be fair. This bit of supporting the big clubs is just odd though. I suppose you could say the same for anywhere. Literally having no connection with the place and ‘supporting’ the team. Makes me laugh when people say they support Liverpool and Man City etc and when you roll your eyes at them, watching them try to scrabble for a connection to there

I’m not knocking Millwall, I’m sure all you say is true. FA cup 3rd round particularly, for me, is about giant killings and playing sides in different divisions, non-league sides getting through and having a huge match against Premier League/Championship sides. As such, I think, whilst it is going to happen, any draws between sides in the same league as each other at this stage, are underwhelming.
