He's valued at around €6m now. Would have been better to have him leave on a free or on loan. But he's had two loan spells already. He's going to cost us just shy of £6m in wages p.a. (minimum, as that excludes bonuses). That's €6.8m. So another joins the list that other clubs might take on a free, or on loan or for around £5m at best, but they won't pay him those wages, so he'll hang around (and why wouldn't he - I would) on nearly £2m a year and we won't be able to shift him.

I don't know how reliable Transfermarkt is, but that put a value of around €10-12 on him in 23/24. It now puts a value of around €6 on him. So given the wages we'll be paying him, he's going to have to show one hell of an improvement to have that work out.

And yet apparently we're paying him just south of 2 million a year for the next three years. This is why we'll be lucky to remain solidly in the Championship if recruitment carries on like this (and given the evidence of the past couple of years, there's no reason to think that it won't - it's developed into a damaging track record).

Our main hope for a mid-table finish is if we play a blinder in mitigation in the PSR hearing and somehow don't get a points deduction. On that performance, mid-table would be about what we merit. I'm struggling to see what those who suggest that it's the tactics, the manager but feel that we still have a squad that has individual quality there, are seeing. I'm not seeing that, which is why I'm really worried about any points deduction.

I was just wondering this. Keeping it light, bright and cheerful, what's the general view on how many points? I've heard nine, which does put us in the present relegation zone.

I am genuinely baffled by this.
