I wouldn't say he is lying, but he is omitting certain facts. If they want to actually change something they are going to need cash, so they will have to increase taxes somewhere beyond those they already mentioned. I do think they manifesto is deliberately non ambitious, and once in power they will push to do more and tax more to get there.

I do find it desperately sad that Hamas spent all this time and money building a tunnel network and arming themselves when they could have built a country from the base they inherited when the IDF left Gaza. I'm sure plenty of Tories are excellent at relating to the public (which includes a lot of middle class people you know), sadly none of them are presently in the cabinet. Sunak is terrible. I am sure his parents were indeed lower middle class to start with, but its hard to argue you understand going without when you went to public school.
