Yeah they announced it as an "adaptation of the original novel" and nothing to do with the 1987 flick. Supposedly it's more faithful to the book whereas the original film wasn't; King apparently disliked that movie for various reasons: https://screenrant.com/running-man-movie-stephen-king-dislikes-why/ I'm a big fan of Edgar Wright so I was a bit surprised/disappointed that he's making something that could easily perceived to be a remake; I'd much prefer he make his own original projects (though he definitely needs another writer on board). Trailer looks good though IMO.
