  1. Even Denmark beat us. Eh @shen?
  2. What the hell just happened?!?!?
  3. Who are the they who are saying "Eat the tariffs"?
  4. Brooklea Nurseries, just off the A6 near Mountsorrel is a great independent garden centre. Cheap, good for plants, not so great for garden furniture or ornaments, though it does have them. The only thing I'd count against it is accessibility to older and infirm people due to being on an slope in the entrance/exit. Staunton Harold, near Ashby-de-la-Zouch, is one of our favourites. As well as the large, reasonably priced, garden centre, there is a courtyard of art and craft shops, and really nice cafe and deli. Closer to Leicester, Wistow Rural Centre, near Great Glen, has a similar, but smaller vibe. They're my three favourites with honourable mentions going to Tur Langton, Hawgrips (Enderby), Palmers (Narborough Rd) and Glebe Cherry Lane (Countesthorpe).
  5. Leave they alone.
  6. This whole 8647 thing. I'm guessing that, like me, most people didn't even know about it until Trump blew up about it. As I understand, it was removed from social media fairly promptly. All Mr Trump has achieved is ensuring that many more people know there's an assassination request out for him (if indeed that's what it was - I personally think not). That's a man who likes to live dangerously. He'll be drinking tea with Putin soon.
  7. My point is that genuinely a person might not realise. Maybe ignorance isn't an excuse (though to my mind, not remembering is the only way to stop it) but when an apology is given, then a refusal to accept it seems very gauche, even obtuse. What do people want? Lineker walking naked from St Paul's to Westminster Abbey constantly ringing a bell and shouting shame? A person might say that the apology was, "just words", but if that is the case then why is not the offending item, "just words" (I realise in this case it was a picture, but I feel the analogy applies). Being a rat is not a good look for anyone. It's not just 100% antisemitic, it's 100% anyone. As you say in your post, the rat slur was used against other groups too. If it was a pig, I'd understand that much more... but wait, that would also be an insult to Muslims. Jews and Muslims have a lot in common, why can't we all just get along?
  8. So you think that the insult of being called a rat is ok for other people, but not for Jews? Wow!
  9. You forgot Kurds, Yazidi, Assyrians... etc and did I mention Arabs? If you're going to go down the complicit by silence route, then we're all complicit, cos there's no way you can speak out against each specific instance. You can mere want that all people can put their differences aside, which means as I said, not harbouring grievances for centuries. Sadly it's usually about who is wearing the boot at any given time.
  10. Turn the internet off mate. It's nice outside, get out if you can. We'll catch up with you in a while after a much needed break.
  11. Is it though? I like to think my history knowledge is some way above average and I've kind of got a vague recollection, but it certainly wouldn't spring to mind. What does spring to mind is the common usage of the word rat to describe someone unlikeable, untrustworthy and deceitful. Which certainly applies to the powers that be in Israel. Obviously, if you're Jewish, you are more likely to know that and possibly not realise that the great majority of other people haven't a clue. So many wars and battles are fought over perceived slights and offences because groups of people (not just Jews) won't let go if stuff that happened decades or even centuries ago. When will humanity learn?
  12. I think a lot of people on here are either too young to realise that he was pivotal to this club still existing... or too thick.
  13. If only we'd made a decent fist of it this season and ideally either Soton or Ipswich, this season would've seen Spurs and Man U relegated. How glorious would that have been!?!?! Missed opportunity.
  14. Weirdly, if you took Man Utd under RVN's results and swapped them with ours in the same period, it would be them going down, not us. Has RVN deliberately been managing us badly as he knew it was the only way to save his beloved former club?
  15. In some ways he's the gift that keeps on giving. But in the way that your Gran would buy you a new video game...
  16. In other news a Raven alighted briefly on our garden fence. It was massive! Don't think I've ever seen one in the city limits before.
  17. Sometimes?
  18. I wonder if climate change deniers will wake up when malaria hits the UK as a common disease?
  19. Who knows, surely he's been gone too long.
  20. Much like a man with orthopaedic insoles, I stand corrected.
  21. This is going to be like Bradman getting out for 99 in his last innings, isn't it?
  22. Ironically, Eurovision is the ultimate poll. Only watch it for a laugh, it's certainly not a serious musical event.
  23. Coming back off holiday. Cos you might as well book a holiday cup final week, cos we're never going to be in it, right? Right!?
