Right time, this tournament was awful, borderline maddening – but he's gone further than any manager bar Alf Ramsay and because of the conservative (often dull) football I don't really think he'll ever really get the credit for it. I know people will fall back on the "easy draw" rhetoric, but he's given me infinitely more joy and hope as an England fan than Hoddle, Keegan, Sven, Capello or Hodgson ever did.
