I asked at the beginning of the season when we had a championship level defence, but still had an EPL level clinical attack; which is more likely, that our defence comes up to meet the level of the attack - or - our attack comes down to the level of the defence/the Championship. Unfortunately it's looking more like the answer is the latter.

Still finishing first. More to do with the lack of quality in this league, meaning we don't usually get punished like we did tonight, rather than our quality though. Next season, however, could get ugly without dramatic defensive changes.

Regardless of all the missed sitters and bad officiating making us unlucky in part, they still only applied 15 minutes worth of pressure and scored 3 goals in that time. That's not unlucky, that's diabolical and is a feature of this team that has still not been corrected from the last few seasons.

Gutted as I was looking forward to saying we have finally had an impressive defensive performance against quality opposition, but then they applied a bit of pressure and we melted like a chocolate fireguard as always. Having said that even with all the misses we should have been 2-0 up before they scored first with correct officiating which changes the game entirely.
