Summer 2022 priorities (and realistic options)
General Smuts replied to Allenho11's topic in Transfer Talk
How have we not signed Zagadou, Denayer or John Brooks yet? -
FFS. She did such a huge amount of good while terminally ill. Bless her.

Fair point but he has been on my lists since 2019. If I was taking this far too seriously and was researching next years list 6 months in advance I’d already be looking at: 1. Mutulu Shakur (Tupac’s stepdad) 2. Frank Field MP 3. Deborah James (You, Me & The Big C) 4. Graham Thorpe 5. Steve McMichael (‘86 Bears/WWE) But I’m not obviously…

Just saw that Tom Smith passed early April. Really wish I was better at something worthwhile. RIP.

It's so nice as a Bulls fan to not be shit anymore. And we have a legit shout at an MVP in DeRozan. Demarvellous.

Yeah I really enjoyed Superstore too. A really easy watch and some great characters. -
NETFLIX RECOMMENDATIONS: stuff to watch
General Smuts replied to LinekersLugs's topic in General Chat
I'm a lurker nowadays, pop on sporadically to make sure no one is beating me at picking celebrity deaths and check transfer rumours. Any 'spare' time I have is spent playing CM01/02 which drew me back in, in a big way at the start of the apocalypse. I love B99 and Taskmaster. Completed both and well and truly my sense of humour. Parks & Rec, Community, The Good Place, Arrested Development. If there's anything similar to these with hundreds of 20 minute episodes that I haven't already seen I'd be a happy happy man. Is The Curse the new show with Tom Davis in it about a bank robbery? I reckon I'll give that a try. -
NETFLIX RECOMMENDATIONS: stuff to watch
General Smuts replied to LinekersLugs's topic in General Chat
I remember reading the Inventing Anna article when it first came out and thinking it would make a great TV show. It's a very good companion piece to the Tinder Swindler as well. I'm about half way through with the missus and I'm not sure I remember where the chips fell in the end so I'm interested to see how the series ends. It also led me to finally watch 'Don't **** With Cats' Jesus wept that was a rollercoaster. I thought I knew what that was going to be about, and that's why I put it off for so long. I know less than Jon Snow. Other mental documentaries I've seen recently include Voyeur, Puppet Master and Winter's On Fire (very prescient at the moment). With a newborn who refuses to sleep unless he's on either me or the missus, I find myself increasingly plonked on the settee in front of the TV late into the night trying to find something to keep me awake. The TV series of Snowpiercer is doing the job at the moment but I'm rapidly running out of episodes. Thankfully Peaky Blinders, Killing Eve and the new Batman film are out soon enough to keep me going. I'm also trying very hard to get fully invested in Schitt's Creek and Power and neither are holding my attention enough early into both series. Gonna go through this thread from the start and see if there's anything I missed that might be worth watching but please throw recommendations my way. -
Was so close to adding Robert Durst to my list.

Smutsathon- CM0102 Charity Stream For Baby Loss Awareness Week
General Smuts replied to General Smuts's topic in General Chat
It is indeed. 300k well spent. I’ve spent most of lockdown playing the original and he’s an absolute rock. The main man to watch though is Antchouet. The Gabonese goal machine I’ve nicknamed Chewy. You can keep your To Madeira’s and Maxim Tsigalko’s - Chewy is the real CM0102 GOAT. -

Smutsathon- CM0102 Charity Stream For Baby Loss Awareness Week
General Smuts replied to General Smuts's topic in General Chat
Saturday is getting closer and closer and just today I've had 5 bereaved fathers with similar experiences to me who have graciously agreed to come onto the stream and talk with me about their angel babies. In a weird way I'm actually looking forward to hearing other fathers stories and giving some a platform, however small, to remember their children. Please do tune in, even if it's just for a few minutes to see what Championship Manager legends I've managed to sign for Rushden & Diamonds I really would massively appreciate it. https://www.twitch.tv/generalsmuts -
Smutsathon- CM0102 Charity Stream For Baby Loss Awareness Week

The loss of the future with Jordan is something I don’t think I’ll ever truly come to terms with. If me speaking about my experience can have any slither of a positive impact on anyone else going through this I feel duty bound to do so. Thank you so much for your words of support and for so eloquently sharing about your own loss. Please know that your babies and nephew will be in my thoughts during the stream next Saturday keeping me going. -
I’ve been in and out of FT since almost the beginning and many of you might know me on here for being that Tinder fella who looks like Joe 90 or from the relegation photo when we were sent down to League 1. But I’m not just a hilarious Leicester City fan who was in the papers that one time - I’m also a father to my son Jordan who was sadly stillborn at 35 weeks on September 24th 2020. I can no longer look after my son in the way I’d dreamt, but I can try to keep his memory alive and try and do something, anything, to raise awareness for baby loss and bereaved parents. The theme of this years Baby Loss Awareness Week is #BreakTheSilence. I've got a big mouth and an obsession with Championship Manager 0102 and on October 9th at 7am I’ll start playing CM0102 for 24 hours straight at https://twitch.tv/generalsmuts. I’ll be talking openly, earnestly and honestly about Jordan and child bereavement as well as having plenty of laughs and football chat throughout the 24 hours. I’m not posting here rattling a tin for charity I really want this to be a success and for people to tune in and help me to raise awareness for bereaved parents and to keep my boy Jordan in peoples thoughts. If you get a chance next Saturday please do drop in and say hello and let me know that I’m not alone screaming into the void. If you’d like to be involved in any way shape of form or know anyone who would be interested in coming on the stream to talk about their own experience with child bereavement - please get in touch either on here or on Twitter @CM0102Smuts. I hope to see as many of you as possible on Twitch a week today. Much Love Karl aka General Smuts.

My mam passed in 2013 and while she was ill she asked me to take her to a Leicester game but I never got the timing right and never managed to go with her. I've always felt tremendous guilt about that. 5 minutes after the Troy Deeney goal she sent me a photo of her making snow angels with the caption 'Remember me happy'. It simultaneously broke my heart and put the game into perspective. On September 24th last year my first child Jordan was born asleep. I only had 8 months with him wriggling and growing inside my fiancée. The way he was kicking away in there City would have had a star for years to come. 2020 was a howling shit storm of horror and I must admit not every tear that rolled down my cheeks yesterday were tears of joy. I watched the game yesterday from home in front of the TV with photos of both on the table positioned to watch the game. I know they would both be watching me pacing and screaming in joy and terror willing every kick to go our way alongside me. This ones for you both. We did it.

Gotten massively into CM0102 again and again and it's such a perfect game it's unreal. The champman0102.net website has just released the April 2021 update and I'll be smashing through that this weekend. Some absolute hero has also released a Starter Pack - meaning no more pissing about changing files, mounting iso's etc - literally just download the starter pack and away you go. Can switch between databases as well so can play with the 93/94 squads, the newest squads or the 01/02 squads. I've actually been streaming a bit of my games on Periscope as well which was great fun. Hoping to switch to Twitch after Periscopes demise, if I ever find some free time.

They call this a reverse Smuts. I wouldn’t Google that without safe search on.
