The Buddhist calendar year is 543 years ahead of ours.

Oh I don't think he's staying at all. I just don't think that the lack of a public vote of confidence tells us much given that such announcements are rare these days. But I'm nitpicking - I agree with you that RVN is toast.
-
I think clubs have basically stopped doing them because they're invariably regarded as the death knell for a manager and so have the opposite effect to that intended.
-
Can you cite any recent examples of official statements from clubs to announce that a manager is staying in his post? I think Man Utd might have done it with Solskjaer in 2021, but I'm not sure it's happened since.
-
I don't think they'd have released a statement (clubs don't usually release statements to say that a manager is remaining in post). However, I think they'd have leaked it to the media and we'd know about it. So I agree that we're basically paralysed until 1 July. I also agree that we don't appear too anxious about 24/25 accounts. I don't get the impression we'll be forced into a fire sale of key players, but will probably operate on a 'sell before we can buy' basis this summer, which seems sensible. So now there's just the small matter of finding buyers for Faes, Soumare, Kristiansen, etc...

Just fifteen more sleeps until we might find out something about our managerial situation! Excitement really starting to build now…

I really enjoyed Russell’s win yesterday and it was very decent of Christian Horner to further increase my pleasure by trying and failing to change the outcome. Cheers Christian!

Haven’t we got enough of those already at the club?
-
Exactly. Even if RVN were definitely staying, BBM would probably still have accepted the Cardiff job. It doesn’t mean anything.
-
Asking RVN to carry on after ghosting him for months despite his repeated requests for talks would take some chutzpah, but I wouldn’t put it past us.
-
A little bit passive aggressive 😁
-
Yes.
-
This is untrue. PSR constraints mean we probably can’t pay compensation before the end of June. But we will be able to from July.
-
Once we’re into July we will be able to pay compensation if it’s required.
-
Apparently he’s been quoted as saying, “People say that what happened to me was a miracle, but then you remember that Rudkin has somehow still escaped the sack and it kind of puts things in perspective…”
-
I have a feeling Dyche will show up somewhere else before we get to July 1st.
-
Frank didn't completely sully his legacy by turning Brentford into a team of gutless losers on the verge of relegation though, did he? If he had, Brentford fans would probably be a bit less thankful.
-
Rohl is 20/1 for the Brentford job. Interestingly, McKenna is currently favourite at 5/4.
-
To be fair we don’t know that we’ve been in for either. Just as plausible that we’ve spoken to neither of them.
-
If any of those currently employed better quality managers want to join us, I’m all for it! I was just responding to your original post, which was about Rohl.
-
Fine, but my fear is that if we go down the ‘cheap and available’ route it will end with Dyche or Carrick or - God forbid - Hughton rather than the type of manager you describe. And in answer to your original point about giving Rohl a swerve because it might be more complicated to get him, I couldn’t disagree more. IF he’s the best available candidate for the job, we should do everything in our power to get him. No more compromise appointments to save money.

Alcarez signed for Moyes.
-
Name a good free agent manager who would join us.
-
If the sole criteria is ‘not as bad as Cooper’, I don’t find that very reassuring.
-
And are there any of those available? Presumably the club considered Cooper to be a good option when they recruited him…
