You've misunderstood me, massively. I pretty much saying everything you say, football's needs to wake up and see 'the modern game' is bullshit. Just heard an interview from Walker after the England game he said along the lines of "You don't get 4-0's, 4-2's, 4-3's in the modern game"...I'm not even arguing that's what we used to get, because I don't think we did but besides if he wants to make that point, Why? What's wrong with that? That's exactly what we want to see, rather than the dour shite that most games play out like. For all the quality and skillful players in the game nowadays the game is at it's most boring and stagnant, it's gone backwards. Perhaps i'm older, perhaps it's nostalgia, yeah you've always had 'shit' teams but football never used to be this boring.

Football needs to wake up, on and off the field, quickly.

Group C: Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia, England

By my own admission, I know **** all about football, but why after all these years is Lineker and the other pundits being critical of Kane when i've been saying the exact thing for years already, why is it only just dawning on people? Why is he only now being questioned? Yes, he scores goals, you cannot argue with that, i'm contradicting myself when I say he adds nothing to the team, but he doesn't help the team, he could do alot more! -

Did football always used to be this shit? I mean yeah you've always had 'shit' teams, but this is not a shit team or shit players, even the 'top' teams are boring and shit to waych, has football always been as boring as this modern age or is it only just dawning on me? Pedestrian. -
Copy and paste of what I said last night: The appointment doesn't excite me but i'm not against him, I guess you could say i'm sitting on the fence. I'm not a stat man, they are often used to force arguments and alot are mainly useless, that said, his stats to look quite damning. I'm pleased we didn't get Potter, his football doesn't enthrall me, his teams don't score and i've seen laughable quotes from the past which would quite simply infuriate me if he came out with it here. Add to that the rumours i've heard about him engineering an exit clause before he's even started, it's a no thanks from me - Managers/Players who didn't want to be here are how we've ultimately ended up in the mess we're in. I'm also buoyed he's not a pure out and out possession man - something we've wasted trying to be for the past 7 years, I think he can and will play possession football (It'll be by instruction) but can and will adapt to atleast try something different. He's not my first choice, far from it, and i'm not going to say it's going to work out, but he's ahead of Potter which is where I thought we were heading Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.

Are you happy with Steve Cooper being appointed (as looks likely)?

No coach, no punishment? Giz it Vardy on the quiet.

I mean I agree with parts and disagree with others. This notion of you support your team through thick and thin - Does that mean we can't be critical, criticize or hold people/sections accountable? To quote a Chelsea flag, which in turn takes the piss out of Man City "We've seen things they'll never see" applies very much or even more so to ourselves, quite right and it's a proud history we have and I wouldn't swap it for the anything. You speak of resilience and say it's something our fans lack, personally I think when we're up against it, a siege mentality, it's when we as a club and fanbase are at our best. If anything, that's where I do think we've slipped up as a club and fanbase is it's all become abit to comfortable, abit too easy, alot has been allowed to slide or turn a blind eye to, lots of happy clapping in recent years and I fear that being at our best when we come up against adversity has been lost.
-
I'll agree on that and that needs to be the main consideration when appointing the next manager.
-
No. Not really. He didn't go without criticism but I was quite complementary towards him, often sticking up for him in some cases.
-
I agree but i'll also play devils advocate, Did Enzo have Championship experience/much experience at all, if he was still here does he have any Premier League experience (As a manager)? No.
-
Not related to us and I appreciate we're only 2 games into the tournament but refreshed to see how direct Germany and Switzerland have been! None of this 'breaking Scotland/Hungary down' nonsense, I mean they're both pretty terrible, but regardless normally there would many advocating a slow, tepid build up to break such opposition down instead of fighting it with directness. Long may it continue. Mind you, next up, Spain. Hopefully Croatia don't play the way Rodri wants them to.
-
It's evolved, the terminology has changed but it's still largely based around the same principles. Bottom line, it's dull as ****.
-
Personally Potter could cost more than Corberan plus compensation imo. I understand Potter is still being paid by Chelsea until he get's another job or his severance pay runs out (Could be wrong) meaning Potter won't be cheap, I could see Corberan and compo being potentially cheaper.
-
Leicester City hierarchy: Who?
-
All points towards Potter. Can’t help but feel it’ll be more of the same of the previous 7 years with possession for possession sake.
-
You only have to look at Man City, where this style is successful - despite what I think about it or them I can't argue any different, yet look at their fanbase and atmosphere.
-
Fair, but as has been discussed in this thread is tiki taka even a thing nowadays, I'd say not, it's evolved into possession based football, which is imo largely boring. It's not enthralling and it doesn't get you out your seat.
-
I'm glad a discussion is being had and i'm delighted the poll is showing in favour of direct. Direct doesn't mean hoof it, people need to understand this, people have been brainwashed by possession based football.
-
Esteban assistant?!

Hang on Moyes gets this defensive tag right, yeah he might be, it's by the by, but yet someone like Rodgers and other possession based philosophy merchants who rarely get out their own half don't get called or wouldn't be called defensive, oh no, they "play the game the way it should be played". They're no more defensive or negative than the other imo. Infact, a hard fought, solid defensive performance (And I appreciate people have put up the stats about how leaky West Ham were last season - but I'm talking generally about a type of manager Moyes or not that has a 'stigma' that people down play) can be applauded more than negative, boring, constant recycling of the ball within your own half resulting in nothing. We are bored(!) of constant possession for possession sake which imo more would likely result in relegation. Bored to tears to use your words, if you will. I certainly know which one is more boring. Ultimately neither way is right, likewise neither way is wrong, however exclusively one way is most definitely wrong, one type of manager would change it up, the other would be stubborn and rigid.
-
Alot was made and excused for our football in the Premier League whereby we had to juggle European commitments, so that has to be taken into account, it's not like West Ham/Moyes didn't take those commitments lightly either - I'm not making a case for Moyes by the way, just playing devils advocate where people would sticking up and making excuses for when we were in a similar situation...and ended up declining with ultimate relegation.
-
But having 50%+ possession and winning 24% of your games, only keeping 18% clean sheets, failing to score in 42% of home games (32% of games overall) and rarely getting out of our own half (our 22/23 stats) is "the way to play football"? Point being i'm not sure what relevance your possession point means.
-
I’m not sure how or why but there seemed far more mainstream media coverage of the Wolves situation. It was covered on local news (TV) and TalkSport, both outlets discussed it several times, likewise Forest’s ST increases were discussed and given airtime - although don’t think anything came of that. Whether it was pushed by fans groups or the media outlets picked it up themselves I don’t know.
-
I kind of get people sticking points with Cooper and Forest because i'm not really bothered by Forest however I am about Coventry and when we were initially linked with Mark Robins I kinda though urgh Cov manager (despite our links with him as a former player) but then I looked at it from the point of boiling their piss, the fact Forest fans hold Cooper in high regard people should have a similar train of thought regarding Cooper. All things aside despite the job Robins has done at Coventry I just didn't think he would be right for the job anyway, if people think similar regarding Cooper then that is fair enough and people should state that and make their case but cheap jibes just because of his links with Forest or his looks are quite frankly just pathetic.
