He did the exact same thing at Liverpool and Celtic. Ironically we did end his sulk at Celtic.
-
Incidentally Rodgers won on penalties at home to Carlisle United in the League Cup 3rd round in 2015. It was his last home game in charge, he was sacked a few days later.
-
A lot of the Fofana money will go to this fraud via a pay off.
-
It's well known that Rodgers starts well at jobs but it disintegrates once he assembles a side in his own image.
-
His transfer record was appalling.

The committee at Liverpool signed Coutinho. Rodgers wanted Tom Ince that January (was doing well at the time). He also tried to swap Henderson for Clint Dempsey. Don't know if the article is still on there but the Liverpool writer for The Athletic article on his time there and downfall:

Rodgers saw Leicester as a stepping stone to a bigger job himself. He seemed to be courting the United job after Ole left last season and results fell off a cliff after that. He'll struggle to get a bigger job now though or a matching salary somewhere else. None of the bigger 6 are coming in for him unless he gets Leicester back in Europe at the least. Maybe somewhere like Villa or Everton if those jobs come up but those clubs aren't topping his salary here and both have weaker squads. That's why he's not going to quit though, he's not walking away from the contract he's got, but would be happy to take a pay out and then wait for a job like Villa to come up. But that may also mean he goes full Mourinho and basically tries to get the sack. He's lost interest here.
-
I doubt it's why we're not spending but I certainly wouldn't trust him with more money. To phrase it another way, can we afford to sack him? He's only here for the contract now (won't be happy at the lack of signings) and we won't want to pay him up on the wages he's on and long term deal.

Didn't Liverpool have to play at Spurs last December with their whole midfield out with Covid? Their only Covid game called off in PL was against Leeds who got it called off. Arsenal called off the game against Spurs with one Covid absence days after loaning out 3 players. Plenty of clubs took the pi$S last season.

Rodgers was a disaster in the transfer market at Liverpool. He'd brief the media that it was the transfer committee to blame (headed up by Mike Edwards) but then Klopp came in and with the same staff they haven't had a problem with transfers. Similar issues with Celtic leading to the team he left behind that got pipped by Rangers until their current manager got some good players in again. I wouldn't trust him with more money.

They'll finish above us THIS season.
-
He's wrote the league off, so needs to win the ECL now.
-
He's a good manager for all his flaws, I just don't think he's a long term appointment for anyone. It unravels once he's built his own team. The best managers tend to get better the more the team is built in their image. Look at Klopp or Pep.

On the one hand I'd give him till the summer and see where we are. On the other hand I think if he left we could see a big upturn like when Shakey took over from Claudio who was in a similar slump. That would move us up the table and give us a better chance in Europe. Not sure who that man would be though. I don't want him getting a big pay off though which would really eat ingo the budget. I wouldn't trust Rodgers with another penny anyway so it's no win. A shame the Unitd job didnt come off and we got compo or let him go.

Not too bothered about the league as long as we avoid a relegation battle, no chance of European qualification through the league. The season hinges on the Conference League. We should be hoping to make the final and our best ever chance of a European trophy. Achieve that and the season becomes a good one. A meek exit and it's time to move on.

As an analogy it's like someone who starts a new relationship every couple of years (or whatever timeframe). At first everything is great, he puts on his best face, but over time the flaws start to emerge and he can't put on a front anymore.

One of the problems with Rodgers (and there's a good few) is he's bad at dealing with pressure. It was the same at Liverpool. At Celtic he was in his element because his only challenger was Rangers who were miles behind and only just got promoted again. They were streets ahead of everyone else anyway. At Leicester two very good first halves to the season but that put pressure on to finish top 4 and it fell apart in the run in. The other factor of the pressure is the downward spiral effect. He's a streaky manager who can't get out of a slump. When things are going well and the confidence is flowing he's great. The minute things turn it's like he loses confidence in himself as a manager.

Another 5 minutes and we'd have lost that. West Ham were awful though and got out of jail.

You need to come back more gradually from an ACL, particularly a player who relies on endurance and sprints. Awful management, especially when the games come thick and fast. He had to put a real shift in at Anfield for 90 mins less than 72 hours ago. Where's the sports science?

Much like Demarai Gray.

Might as well have spent it all on the treatment room. -
Rodgers is great until he puts his own team together (as the Celtic fan posting said) because he's got a terrible eye for a player. He's hopeless in the transfer market but demands a lot of control over signings. Plus his personality flaws come to the surface after a while and he loses the players, like Mourinho. People say "who would you get that's better" but it's not really the point if he's not the same manager anymore and it's only going in one direction. In his last full season at Liverpool they were dreadful but they kept him because they wanted Klopp and he wasn't available yet. They started the next season in awful form and were able to talk Klopp into taking the job. It'd be overly optimistic to just call this season a blip. He's won 10 of his last 30 PL games, not to mention 3 capitulations already this season in cup competitions. He's got the Conference League to redeem himself.

Effort was there but needed Schmeichel to keep the score down. Thankfully Salah didn't play the 90 as well. Rodgers just hoped to stay in the game at 1-0 and try and sneak a goal on the break, rather than put any pressure on.
